These are the poverty guidelines: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864p.pdf

I guess I was borderline I just made enough...I work partime with the state made about 20 to 21000 dont remeber and 2500 yr child support 5000in bank one child also

Household of 3 needs at least $23,862. If you had a court order to prove you get the child support and it will be ongoing, it should have counted. However, adding the $2500 still puts you under in income. The savings puts you in a borderline position, so that is most likely why they asked for a co-sponsor.

I hope they approve the visa in a timely manner after you provide the co-sponsor documentation. Good luck!

By the way, make sure your co-sponsor not only includes the I-134, letter from employer, 2011 tax transcript and a few months worth of their most recent pay stubs, but also proof of being a USC or LPR. It is required for a co-sponsor. Copy of birth certificate, naturalization, bio page of their US passport or front and back of their green card(if an LPR).
