Minneapolis two days early was asked to come back. As I handed them the letter I also mentioned my actual appointment wasn't for a couple of days but I was in the area. They said no as one of the computers was down.

Returned for actual appointment which was routine.

Good luck

CITY: TEXAS - AUSTIN Office

REASON: We were in the area that day (we live an hour away). It was the week before our appointment time.

SUCCESSFUL: Yes. No problem at all. Gave them the appointment letter and was given the forms to fill out.

We were in and out in less than 30 minutes. Everyone was very friendly there. :)

Good to know this, where is the office in Austin? I thought I would have to drive 2 hours to go to San Antonio for the biometrics because that was the only local immigration office I found on the uscis website. I am still waiting for the noa hardcopy and letter for bio appointment though. Thank you.

Hi everyone,

I did my walk-in biometrics on 5/22 in Holtsville, NY (Long Island). The staff was very polite and helpful, the officer who took my apointment letter (scheduled for 6/6/12) didn't even ask me for the reason of doing it early. I'm not sure if it helps or speeds things up because I've read somewhere that they don't even look at your application until after your originally scheduled date. We'll see I guess.

Anyway I've called FBI next day to check on my bio status and was told that my fingerprints were cleared and sent back to USCIS the same day. Now it's the waiting game for me and from what I've seen NY takes full 6 months :( for the whole process to be completed.

Successful early walk-in at the ASC in Southwest Houston. No questions asked. Took appointment letter and asked that I fill out the standard info form. Was in and out in 15 minutes. Maybe 4 other people waiting. Everyone was very professional. Really great experience.

My husband tried walking-in 10 days before his actual appointment date (07/31 at 8:00AM) at the Downtown Los Angeles ASC office and was denied even though there wasn't much people in the office.

He went to his scheduled appointement today and arrived 15 mins. early and there was already 17 people lined-up (he was #18) ahead of him. He said employees were very kind. The whole process took less than 5 minutes and he was done by 8:35.

He said the office was packed. About 60+ people did the biometrics when he went today.

Successful. No questions asked.

I walked in with my appointment letter and asked if I could do a walk in as my parents were arriving that day. The guard told me no but she would call and check if they could see me as nobody was waiting. I was in and out within around 15 minutes. We risked it and it paid off. We went in at 11am on a Wednesday. Seemed pretty quiet all round.

My appointment was for the 7th of August but I had my biometrics done July 25th.
