I hope you're right, but we have some red flags too. We got married about 3 weeks after my divorce was final, and I'm about 9 years old than him. Also, not everyone knows we are even married. Some do, some don't. We're private people and didn't invite anyone to our wedding. We just kind of ran off to Reno and did it. Seemed like a brilliant idea at the time...

I like your suggestion for dividing the proofs. I was just going to do an "originals" and "copies" pile. But your system is better, I think.

You guys sound a lot like us. We got married about 3 weeks after her divorce was final. And she is 16 years older than I am. But we are madly in love.

Due to me not having my EAD we are not able to get bills on both our names or get me on her insurance. She has insurance from her job and they require at least a social and work permit to put me on. I'm getting so nervouse because our interview is mid August.

I am not an expert on these things, but what if you get a quote from an insurance company with both your names on it? That could at least show that you are thinking of insurance but don't have the ead or social to actually get it.

Yeah, I had no idea the short time frame between divorce and remarriage was an issue until I came here and started reading. Nothing I can do about it now. At least I can show I filed the divorce LONG before it was final. Before my husband even came to this country, actually.

Are you talking about car, health, or some other kind of insurance?

Another person here was heavily questioned about her previous husband - and she had a longer time frame between divorce and remarriage than I do. In the end, she was able to answer the questions and it all worked out.

We're going to be honest about everything (no reason not to be) and hope for the best. At least my husband's from Canada and he had absolutely no reason to come here except to be with me. And I had more money when I was married to my ex-husband than I do now, so there was no financial benefit to the marriage either. Just plain ol' love. :)

You're adjusting status from a K1 visa so you may or may not get an interview. Your case has probably been transferred to CSC with two possible outcome:

1) CSC process your case and mail you the card without an interview. It could take more than 6 months because they are backlogged.

2) CSC transfer your case to your local office and you get an interview. Fastest scenario at this moment..

You may want to follow this thread as it is specific to people adjusting from K1

It usually take 8-10 days. I would think Saturday at the earliest.

Oh my - 6 months from now or 6 months from when we filed?!

Congratulations!

Thanks so much. It's quite a relief. My wife has not worked since early February, and she's chomping at the bit to get a job.

I meant 6 monhs from filing but that seems to be the earliest if your case is adjudicated at CSC. Some have been waiting since October. Check this thread, there are a lot of good info for you.
