Divorce decree or certificate?

Do I need to send in a divorce DECREE with my I-129F or a divorce CERTIFICATE? I only have the decree which is a few pages and states the terms and conditions of the divorce. It also has a seal and signed by the judge on the last page. If I need a certificate, I need to go to records and get that. Maybe I should send both? Any help would be appreciated.

Also, on Part C about military service, I put "Not in Military Service". Should I change this to N/A? Thanks again!

Either is OK for military service.

If you have a decree with the court stamp as entered or final, you are good to go. Send a COPY of that. Keep the original.

I sent a copy of my divorce decree and I got a ROE asking me to send in a copy of the divorce certificate with the court's seal on it. To avoid any delay, I would suggest sending in a copy of certificate. I did have to pay extra to get the divorce certificate but it would be worth it because at the interview they wanted to see the original certificate anyway. Hope that helps!

I agree a certificate is the way to go. This is what I sent in with our paperwork. Order several copies because you will need them through out the entire process. Do not rely on photo copies.

Is the stamp/seal on the last page sufficient? I have only one stamped copy of my divorce decree, shall I try to locate a divorce certificate too?

Like much of what is sent and done at USCIS, it may depend on the adjudicator. I sent in copies of the court decrees from my divorces with my original petition. Subsequently, after reading threads on this forum, and anticipating a RFE, I obtained certified copies of the divorce decrees from several states. BTW, I recently got our NOA2 with no RFEs. However, as I have been told to me by a more senior forum member, the certified copies will be necessary down the visa path.

Good luck on your visa journey.
