I applied for my wife I-130 she came here with a work visa we summited all paperwork

we recieved the notificacion for a figerprints, she needs to take the letter from USCIS

and a valid ID to the appt. hers's the problem she don't have a valid ID

her passport and ID (non driver licence)are expired.When we contact USCIS they told us

to write a letter explaning everything why she

can not renew the id, they also told us there no garanty they will let us do the biometrics

Please please advice there some one with information in this matter.

From previous experiences shared on VJ. An expired passport should suffice for a biometric appointment. SO let her go ahead and take that with her.

It's the local ASC that will determine if she wont be allowed not some USCIS call center personnel

My husband doesn't have passport. He does have Georgia State ID (valid). They didn't let him to do the biometrics and told him to get a consular ID from Russian embassy. We don't know how long it will take, since Russian consulate is not very cooperative. We just don't understand, why do they write that state ID is acceptable form of ID if they don't take it?

Dont know why they wouldnt allow you. I did mine with a drivers licence? is the state ID out of state? Do you have another ASC in your state that you can try?

Yes, the ID is out of state (but it is valid). They wrote down on the letter that he has "open appointment" to come with consular ID and put a stamp on it. I don't think that the other place will take him. My husband will go to Russian consulate, but I doubt that they can help. They already responded by email saying that you should have take care of your Russian passport first and then apply for USA documents. They do not care. The last resort, is will make infopass appointment and try to explain.

I hope you get it resolved on time, I really find it hard to believe that your local ASC insist on passport for any biometric appointment.

That is just being difficult.
