Hi every one,

Few days ago I asked a question that I forgot my green card back in the US and Iam not in the US now and need to come back.I asked if my friend could mail my Green card via mail outside the US and some of the answers for the members in this website said no it is illegal.I emailed the Boarder and custom protection and this was their answer:

Please note that upon reentry you will be required to present your Green Card to the inspecting Officer at the Port Of Entry. Should you not have it this could result in a delay, and could also cause you to have boarding issues with your airline. Please note that we can not advise you as to postal rules or regulations, however should you elect to get this sent to you we would recommend using a courier service as opposed to international mail.

according to the email from them,Is this mean that my friend can mail the green card for me?

No they are not saying that your friend can mail it, its illegal to mail it. They said if you decide to try doing it anyways to use a courier service like fedex or UPS.

They are saying they have no answer whether the postal service will accept a greencard. Is that what you asked them?

And they are saying if you want it sent to you they recommend FedEx or DHL--courier services-- rather than trusting it to international mail carriers who would receive it once it leaves the US. With a courier like FedEx it is trackable.

Why don't you got the embassy and get a travel document from them?

Avoid the putting the GC in the regular mail, FedEx and DHL have delivered millions of important documents -- your GC would be treated no differently.
