Good luck to Kinga. Should be simple and short.FYI, my now wife said that phones can be checked in at the door (but this was last July).

TBoneTX: What do you mean here? Can you provide more background?
Indicating that you're married would invalidate the I-129F (fiance/e) petition and make you ineligible for the K-1 (fiance/e) visa. The idea is to avoid doing anything stupid, meaning anything that might raise doubt where none needed to be raised.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hi, ok I have one question about front-loading. Now, I had no idea what it was until I read further in the thread and found out. But my question now, is front-loading referring to providing the proof of on-going relationship when you submit the I-129F? Or is this front loading referring to submitting more proof when submitting the package to Consulate?

Now, from what I've read, all the forms are brought to consulate on day of interview, the beneficiary doesn't submit anything to consulate, right? At least I think that's what I've read from the threads about the consulate in Guayaquil, Ecuador...

If it refers to submitting proof with the I-129F to USCIS, then I'm glad I sent enough proof. Four email threads... Hope that is enough for the consulate. We of course plan on bringing more proof to the interview... Of course I submitted proof of having met within 2 years, pictures, hotel bills, boarding passes, passport stamps for entries and exits...

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

12/5/11 - Mailed I-129F

12/9/11 - NOA1 received

12/21/11 - Last updated as per USCIS

My fiance took about 50 pages of emails and 10 pages of skype logs (just the video call timestamps, not written content). The CO glanced at it, then handed it all back to her. The only thing he kept was my 1040 from last year (and of course other packet 3 stuff).

That being said, best to be prepared for almost anything.

Exactly this.

Follow the current instructions on the consulate's website.
If it refers to submitting proof with the I-129F to USCIS, then I'm glad I sent enough proof. Four email threads... Hope that is enough for the consulate.
It depends on what the threads were, and over what time period, and how well they portray the legitimacy of your relationship.
We of course plan on bringing more proof to the interview... Of course I submitted proof of having met within 2 years, pictures, hotel bills, boarding passes, passport stamps for entries and exits...
The biggest help is for you to be there at the interview, even if it bankrupts you to be there or you're on your deathbed. There have been a couple of isolated reports of beneficiaries' having been approved when they attended alone, but this doesn't constitute a pattern. The indisputable pattern is this: Petitioner doesn't attend, 221g is issued, or visa is refused outright. Read the "embassy review" by PDXBicycleBoy for the real truth. Ignore any glowing reports about that ####### hellhole consulate; they'll only lull you into disaster.

Also, be in Guayaquil at least a full day beforehand, take at least a dozen pictures of yourselves, have them developed or printed out (you'll find a place in the big mall), and bring those to the interview. Being there early also helps avert the consulate's ####### trick of phoning you earlier on the day of interview and saying "Be here in 45 minutes or you can forget about your visa."

Other advice is in the "US Consulate in Guayaquil, Ecuador" thread in the Embassy/Consulate forum (you've presumably read this) and in my individual messages to other Ecuador filers.

And don't take a shred of advice from any non-Ecuador filer about Guayaquil unless it's from JimVaPhuong, pushbrk, or Gary and Alla.

If you handle things correctly now (and you seem to have made a decent start), there's hope for you, si man.

Edited to add: Ah, I see that you've found the aforementioned thread. Good for you, si man.

Are you saying that the petitioner MUST be present at the interview of the beneficiary? I'm not sure if I understood correctly.

I read a few times that they sometimes allow the petitioner to attend the interview - but it is not a requirement. Please elaborate - thanks

certain embassies like Ecuador, yes the petitioner must be present to stand a chance of approval... but there are other embassies that will not let any one else attend the interview... and then there are others like the UK where it really doesnt make a difference.

Good answer. In general, if the petitioner's attendance isn't a formal or de facto requirement, attending never hurts and may help. Read your embassy's reviews to determine what's required or desirable.
