Hi all!

I am confused about what I need for the police certificate from Egypt? What did you all have to do when you obtained them? Do you have to get stamps from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs? How about translations? Can I get translations from the US at a notary or does it have to be from Egypt?

Thanks!

depends if u r in cairo or alexandria...if cairo go ask at ur local police station about "feesh gena2i" criminal record and if u r in alexandria go to "modreyet el amn el gededah" in smouha for 15 pounds u will get it done u dont need to take anything but a passport pic or u would be lucky if the station would be equipped with computer camera so u would have one of those new computerized criminal record...u do need to get it certified by the ministry of foreign affairs, and before u can do that u make sure u have ur criminal record signed and stamped with the national seal (she3aar el gomhryea) from the officer in charge where ever u will get your criminal record otherwise the ministry of foreign affairs won't accept it as a legal document (i know, bureaucracy bullshit but u have to do it)...finally both criminal record and military papers do not need to be translated..good luck

Quick Question: does the police certs. (criminal staurs records) have a expiration date on them?

Some countries they are dated, and only good for 3 months......

Thanks for any responses....

Do you mean regular birth certificates? Or are you talking about a translation?

Egyptian birth cert for the NVC. Oh also, As in the past, translations were not required they don't necessarily need to be translated if they're in the native language of the country where the beneficiary will have his/her interview

Hopefully this is still in effect.....

He was born in Egypt, and interview will be in Cairo.....

Birth certificates don't expire. It's not like they need to be updated like a police report.

Very nice, I've seen B.C. from other countries valid for 3 months, I always thought that was strange......

Think i will have him obtain his B.C. now, and do a dry run on the Police Cert.

Thank you for all your assistance....

I would wait for the police cert. until your case is sent to Cairo. They don't take much time to obtain. Any kind of cert. that expires you'll want to wait on, needless to say.

Good point, why take chances of a cert. expiring...... Once I know NOA 2 is issued, THEN he can start obtaining them

for the NVC portion since the certs are required there, of this hellish journey....

Dont know why Im putting horse ahead of the cart, I know this process too well of forms and procedures......

Thanks again for all your help. Have a great evening..... (F)
