London 2012- K1s from NOA2 to interview thread

Had an interesting chat on the phone with an "analyst" at ACRO today.

I had a query about the Subject Access request, she asked for my Police Certificate number and told me to hold the line.

According to her it would come back with exactly the same as the police certificate, "no trace" and not to bother with it and save myself a tenner.

Explained to me that certain convictions prior to 1996 are "unrecorded" on the PNC and as far as the Police are concerned effectively never occurred. My DD conviction in 1984 is not recorded, hence "no trace"

That led me to mention to her Q38 on the DS-156, "Have you ever been arrested or convicted for any offense or crime, even though subject of a pardon, amnesty or other similar legal action?"

Naturally I got the "I can't advise you whether to answer yes or no but if it were me..." speech.

Answering yes will clearly raise a question at interview when presenting a "no trace" certificate, they are well aware there are instances of unrecorded arrests/convictions prior to 1996 at the USEM according to ACRO, a verbal explanation will suffice.

Answering no is one for the conscience it seems.

I am in no way advising anyone in similar circumstances what to do here.

Hi all! As one who works in a field where documents must be 120% accurate before sending off, I'm wanting to make sure I fill out the I-134 properly.

First up, if a question doesn't apply, depending on the question is it okay to leave blank or will N/A or NONE suffice? (IE: the whole section about if you aren't a US Citizen provide all these numbers, blah.)

Second, when it asks about how much you have on deposit in savings...I personally have an amount that's nothing to write home about. Should I include it anyway? Or is it okay to say I have "0" when I actually have X amount in my savings which they'll see from bank statements anyway?

Third, when it says "I have submitted a Visa petition on behalf of so and so" the example from VJ has the individual's name and (filing now with I-129f petition). Do we really need to include that....? Obviously we've filed a petition for a visa, we're getting an interview for it...do I really need to include that it's an I-129f? Along with that, when it asks the date you submitted the petition, what date did you use? The date you mailed it off, the date the USCIS received it, NOA1 date?

And last, in the example when it talks about the intentions of making special contributions, the example says: N/A (K1 visa process for permanent residence). Is an explanation required here as well? Basically my thought process is that we're dealing with intelligent human beings who are going to make a decision on whether or not to give you a visa. You think they'd know why you're submitting an affidavit of support come interview.

Let me know what worked for you, if you did anything differently or followed the example exactly. No I'm not trying to be a perfectionist, what are you talking about?

Here's my responses:

Question 1: I put "none" for the children part on page 1 and questions 8 and 9. Everything else in those fields were blank

Question 2: My savings isn't anything substantial about either, but my salary is well above the poverty amount so I wrote that on the first line and left everything else blank.

Question 3: I put exactly what it showed in the guides and used the NOA1 date.

Question 4: I put N/A and (K1 visa process for permanent residence)

I didn't have my interview or anything, that's just what I have ready to take but I followed the same logic that you're using so I think it's OK unless someone says otherwise.

I just wanted to throw out that we asked for an expedited interview date on our cover letter when sending in our Packet 3 documents, and I believe it worked. There's no way to know for sure, but we sent our Packet 3 in on 6/9/12 and when we called the embassy today (6/22) they said the letter was on it's way for a 7/12 interview date. A month from Packet 3 sent to interview date seems pretty fast. We didn't have a wedding date, but I am expecting, and my fiance mentioned he'd like to be in the states by the end of July in his cover letter. It appears they are helping us make that happen. :)We may have just been lucky, there's no way to know, but I think it's further proof that it *can* (not WILL) make a difference.

Myself and my fiance are going through the I-134 tonight on Skype. I just want to be clear on a few things. Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere.

My fiance has only just started a new job in May and now earns above the threshhold (over $30k). Do we no longer need a sponser?

If so what evidence does she need to provide?

Her latest tax return will show an income below the threshhold?

How many pay slips should we put in?

What would a letter from her employer need to say?

and finally how do we answer the elusive question 11.

I just called the embassy today as I hadn't heard anything nor got anything in the post yet. My medical was back on 15th June 2012 and they advised me that they had received all my paperwork and the medical results but had not assigned me an interview yet and that I would be assigned one within 21 days of my medical. They did advise that as the interview dates are sent out with 4 weeks notice I would be able to ring up and try to get an interview sooner once I receive this notice. I am hoping that I will be able to do this as my career break from my job starts on 17th July and I dont really fancy trying to fly stand by when the olympics start

Hi Donis, what number did you call? I called the Department of State at 202-663-1225. We have a very similar timeline so I would think you should have something scheduled soon.

Did you request an interview date in the cover letter that you sent with the DS-2001? I wrote that we wanted the earliest interview date possible and would accept one upon short notice.

How many pay slips should we put in?

I gave a good explanation of this to you in the current thread posts 132-136.

What would a letter from her employer need to say?

Let me ask you a question Robert. If somebody was giving you a letter to verify their income, what kind of information would you find useful to see in the letter? And I know you haven't bothered to read the I-134 instructions or you wouldn't be asking.

and finally how do we answer the elusive question 11.

Somebody else take this one because I've answered it the best I know from my experience before in this thread as well as here:
