Hi,

does anyone know how I inform the UK of the birth of my child (when it's born) and whether or not the child will be eligible for a UK passport or citizenship. I understand that they can apply for it once they're older but can I apply for citizenship on their behalf? What about if we move back to the UK before they're 18, would they be considered an immigrant?

You do not need to inform anyone - your child is born a British citizen if one of the parents is British and would simply need to apply for a passport when the time comes
