Hi everyone,

I sent my AOS packet off just before Xmas. The package included ALL forms (included optionals). I only sent 2 passport 2x2 photos. Should I have sent more???

Please advise and if so what will happen if those were not sufficient?

The forms require 2 pictures per application. if you send AOS, EAD and AP that is 3 applications. Once the packet arrives at chicago it is split up into the 3 different applications and sent to different places. That's why you need to do what is required for EACH application and not treat it as a group.

There was talk that 2 photos would suffice (as some had no issues) but someone DID recently get an RFE for not including all the passport pictures. So you will either get an RFE, or you won't. No-one can really know for sure.

The photo requirement was not clear. The only thing I understood from the checklist was that 2 photos were required. What's with all the photos?! They take addition photos at the bio!

I sent only two photos and did not include ones for AP and EAD (interestingly I filed for AP/EAD just because I could and it was free, did not needed them at all - extremely stupid since I could delay AoS for something I did not need) - anyway - got my GC after two months of filing without a slightest problem or RFE...

If you read the instructions for each of the forms, it is very clear how many to send. Since your application is out, just have some more ready to send if you get an RFE. You may and you may not. I wouldn't sweat it at this stage.

The photo requirement was clear if you read the instructions. The VJ guide doesn't explain the requirements for the EAD/AP docs which is a great failing I know but you should also read the instructions yourself to make sure there hasn't been a change between making the guide and the time you file.

You are right that you have photos taken at biometrics and that is why some people think not sending "extras" (even though each form has it's own instructions which outline their individual requirements so they aren't ACTUALLY "extras") is pointless. However those are the requirements, people have been RFE'd for not sending them so I do what is required.

**Edit - as I said before though you might not get RFE'd so don't panic. Easily fixed if you do.

Thanks everyone! I am aware that each form specifies photos but it's not indicative for cofiling (which is what I did). These forms are Generic use for different situations related to family base immigrants. Overall it depends on the processor of your case I guess!

We included 4 passport photos instead of 6. We got an RFE for not including the extra 2 with the AP application. (Not sure how they determined it was the AP application they were missing from, but whatever.) Some people haven't gotten RFEs, though, so there's no real way to know.

That's just it though.. you're NOT co-filing... but you are filing "concurrently". That just means at the same time. It doesn't mean the forms get processed together (and they don'). The forms ARRIVE together but they're then separated and sent to different places.

The ceadsearc filed concurrently and was RFE'd (that was the post I was recalling). You are better to do what the instructions require than to assume things are different because of your particular circumstance. If they WERE different for you the instructions would specify it.
