My colombian wife recently did her interview and they did not issue her the Visa because they needed her to show my travels to and from Colombia. They asked her to get this information from DAS. Is this a normal request and what will she need to get this info? I am assuming my passport info?

Thanks, Donald

I highly recommend to check the embassy website. They have the "Interview Package" where all the documents needed are listed, and detailed instructions on how to get them are given. Good luck

I've gone through the interview package and this is all I found about the DAS certificate:

DAS CERTIFICATE Entries and exits to and from Colombia for the past 10 years for both the petitioner and all visa applicants over age 18. This document may be obtained in Bogotá at the DAS Office located at Calle 100 #11B-27, Edificio Platinium, Bogotá. Failure to bring this document may result in delays in visa processing.

Less detailed than I would have hoped for... The online ordering instructions are for police certificates.

So I've read on here that my wife can pick up a DAS certificate for me if she has our marriage certificate and a copy of my passport. Does she need anything esle? I've also read she can do this in Medellin (not only Bogota) but that there is a five day wait.. Does anyone know this to be true?

And if you pick it up in Bogota now long does it take? Is it "while-you-wait" next-day or multiple-days?

I was going to chance it and skip picking up my DAS certificate but as there is going to be another round of document collected anyway for medical, her DAS certificate, Baptismal docs, etc it's feeling less smart to cut this final corner.. :)

Well, I was lucky enough and my wife lives in Bogota. The entries and exits certificate took three business days. Only way to confirm if it can be order in another city is to call DAS directly.

Thanks for the information.. so 3 days or so going through Bogota.. What information did she need to get your DAS certificate? Did you have to provide a letter or did they allow her to get it with just the marriage certificate and a copy of your passport page?

Thanks... good info. She had everything for the 1st interview except my DAS travel info and my 2008 and 2009 W2's and 1040s... everything else was good. So she is gathering that info and will go back for a second interview. I'm assuming she will then be good to go. I have a high priced immigration attorney but he left out a few things :) thanks again for all your help.

I am really worried about this. We only received an appointment letter from the NVC, telling us what time to be there, the case number, the date, and at the end there was a list of documents that were received, accepted and what we needed to bring to the interview. I did not see anything about a DAS migratory report for myself.

When I tried to click on the link in the letter from NVC which takes you to the page to find out the embassy specific info. But when you put in BGT and click below it, it does nothing. And my wife just did it too and she had no luck either.

Is this Packet 4 the same for everyone? I am applying for a CR1 visa....is it the same for the K visas?

Not sure if the K and CR1 are the same, but we are doing the CR1 and they asked for a DAS report on both of us as it states in packet 4. You can get it within about 5 days so the best thing to do is get the DAS report prior to the interview if at all possible. All you need is the marriage certificate and petitioner's passport number.

My wife just did her second interview with the additional documents requested and she got her visa... which will be sent to her in the mail in 10 days or less. The first interview process was with a grouchy old guy who was kind of a jerk. The second was with a nice lady who simply looked at the documents and didn't get personal. Thanks to everyone who helped explain the process as we went. Stoked!!!

NOTE: The Colombian Embassy revised the Immigrant Visas (Packet 3/4) in December 2011. The new packet does NOT require the DAS report of entries and exits from Colombia by the Petitioner or the Applicant. It now only requires a Police Certificate ("Certificado Judicial"). See the Embassy web site for the new list of documents needed for the interview.

Thanks for the update but that would be the US Embassy in Bogota, Colombia. No "Colombian Embassy" ever gets involved in the US immigration process.
