The immigrant does complete the I-864 or I-864a. Those are completed by the petitoner and any joint sponsor.

  • It looks like his wife used his income in Item 24 b. Intending Immigrant's income can be added here and in such cases the Intending Immigrant needs to file I-864A.
  • I will check I-864A and will get back to you Asad a little later - I have to go to a meeting now.

Question 9: Fill your current employment, even if it is in Dubai.

Question 10: Current income is what you are getting now per month or semi-monthly or bi-weekly or weekly, multiplied by 12 or 24 or 26 or 52 - convert it into USD and enter

Question 12: Enter the balance in your savings/ checking account in 12. a - convert into USD. I don't think you want to include other assets, as you will have to produce valuations.....

Question 13: Write "None" or "N/A", as you are not the petitioner and this is not applicable to you.

The NVC asked for the beneficiary to complete the I-864A? Is your income going to continue from the same source when you move to the US? If no, then there is no reason for you to complete an 864A. If it will continue, you must provide proof that it will continue.

Your wife completes an I-864 no matter what her income.

If your brother in law is completing an I-864A to combine income with your wife then proof of relationship is needed. If he completes an I-864 then no proof of relationship is needed.

Now if the consular officer wants to see proof of relationship, that is different. At that point you will have to produce some documentary proof or affidavits.
