For those planning to get/renew their NBI Clearances, it seems that everyone will be applying as a NEW APPLICANT.

NBI Advisory: http://www.nbi.gov.ph/Clearance/Advisory.htm

In the news: http://www.manilastandardtoday.com/insideNews.htm?f=2011/july/2/news6.isx&d=2011/july/2

NBI kiosks are now open at Robinsons Malls (Galleria, Otis, Place, Metro East & Cainta). The one in SM Megamall & Riverbanks Mall in Marikina are now closed (from what I read from other bloggers). One may also apply at local government units (selected city halls).

You will also need to submit 2x2 photos with white background.

Its stated in the NBI website that releasing of clearance is AFTER 10 WORKING DAYS. Not sure if this applies to all branches and/or if your name has no "hit".

For any questions, their phone # is 523-8231 local 5502 & 5523

Here's one recount of someone who just applied/renewed her clearance recently under the 'new' system: http://www.honeyandrade.com/2011/07/how-tos.html

Hope this helps  I'm planning to get mine tomorrow. Good luck to everyone!

This sucks! My wife planning to get another one for our DS-230 form. She have to wait for 10 business day? This can't be happening!

Is it okay to send personal copy of NBI clearance with our DS-230 form or do my wife need to get another copy? My wife just applied for her passport and she have extra copy but it says personal copy. Is this fine?

rhenzhen: I'm not sure since validity of the NBI Clearance is 6 mos. Better to call USEM & inform them of this update from NBI.

correct me if I am wrong but in my NBI clearance says, THIS CLEARANCE IS VALID FOR ONE YEAR FROM THE DATE OF ISSUE.....

That is korek. One year.

And while it sounds bad, the clearance taking 10 days... compared to the rest of our Visa Journey, it is nothing, really.

yes, NBI clearance is valid for one year....

My wife called NBI and it would only take 10 days if there's a problem with your name (duplicate names). If there is no problem, you most likely get it that day. Oh, I hope it's true. My wife is going this Friday. She's taking a day off at work...

To keep from alarming everyone, this does only appear to apply for the metro Manila area only.

"Meanwhile, the processing of clearance applications in the NBI regional and district offices nationwide will continue as usual. With this innovative approach, the delivery of the NBI clearance, a vital frontline service to the public, will be immensely improved."

Please forgive my ignorance, but for what purpose(s) does one need multiple original copies of the NBI clearance?

Thanks!
