If they told you they are waiting for a visa number to become available then you must not be a family member of a United States Citizen. USC don't have to wait for visa numbers to become available. However...if you have a member of family petitioning you that is not a USC you must wait until the number becomes available.

If you are a US citizen then waiting for a visa number doesnt sound right...you should call them again. USC spouses automatically have visas available without waiting....are you sure they said visa number? maybe they said interview number...getting you in que for interview? sometimes the embassys are booked... where are you filing? what country?

it's Ameena :) and sometimes the embassy has no more room for interview scheduling for that month so they hold your case for the next session of interviews....so look for possibly an interview notice within the next two weeks. AND DO KEEP CALLING NVC!!! Just stay on top of it...

thank you so much you makes me feel good i appreciate you help i was so worried about this especialy when i heard some people get their interviews appointment

good luck

I understand completely...we were fortunate we were able to get in the islamabad so quickly...otherwise it would have been July but you must continue to call often and keep asking about it. When they do finally schedule for interview you can then ask them when they sent your documents to the embassy. Im sure within two weeks you will hear something. :)

Good luck to you!!!

May sound like a strange question, but are you sure they know you are a US citizen and not just a greencard holder? Waiting 2.5 years and no interview yet is NOT normal.

Bye: Penguin

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Is it possible that during the course of applying for his wife that he began as a LPR and is now us citizen but that info didnt' follow thru with NVC? I hope he comes back to read this question from you and give a little more info so he gets the right answers then..... That would explain NVC saying no Visa Number available yet ....
