How does this moron rise to the level of senate majority leader? And what kind of idiot listens to this drivel?

Reid says Republicans want shutdown to close clinics

(Reuters) - Ratcheting up the rhetoric, U.S. Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid on Friday said Republicans want to shut down the government because they want to deny funding to women's health clinics.

"Republicans want to shut down the government because they think there's nothing more important than keeping women from getting cancer screenings. This is indefensible and everyone should be outraged," Reid said on the Senate floor.

Planned Parenthood operates a little over 800 health centers across the nation. And this is what the GOP wants to shut down to the degree that it is funded by the federal government (appr. 1/3 of it). That's roughly 270 health centers that the GOP wants to shut down. These health centers provide overwhelmingly health services such as cancer screenings, STD testing and treatments, prenatal care, infertility treatments and so on. All that would not be available if the GOP had their way. And this is one of the major points where the GOP refuses to move. That's a fact. Members of Congress cannot talk about facts anymore without someone coming out complaining about it? Odd.

Thanks for answering my question. So your cool with shutting down the government over this? Yeah, thanks for answering my question.

No, I am not and I haven't said that I am. Who wants to stop funding Planned Parenthood and why? For fiscal reasons? It's not even a drop in the bucket. The funding amounts to less than one hundreth of one percent of the budget. If it's defunded, the services provided by PP will be provided by other providers and much of it will end up on Uncle Sam's payable in the form of hospital charity care reimbursed by the federal government. It's not the funding - it's too miniscule. It's not the savings - those might not even exist. So, what is it and why does it need to hold up a budget deal and threaten the government shut-down? I don't really care whether Boehner shuts the government down. He'll end up paying the price just as the Newt did.

Excellent substantive answer.

While I don't think the government needs to be funding it at all as well, I do not agree with the reasoning.

This is the typical religious right (aka whackos) who are against PP.

PP as Big Dog said is a great place and offers plenty of services that are very beneficial to women and couples.

Lets look at this shall we? In the two years that the dems controlled the government they didn't pass a budget. So now that they no longer control the government it is the fault of the reps that the snag is because of PP? If they had done their job this wouldn't be an issue. Additionally, if the dems would have given us SP when they had the chance we wouldn't even need PP. Tell me again how you think that Reids statement makes any sense? Who is really wanting women to not get cancer screenings? Yeah, thanks for answering my question yet again. Have another glass of kool-aid.

Wrong, totaly bogus partisan hack rhetoric.

Oh, if you say so.

I think you are right. It is partisan hack rhetoric. The GOP wants to do away with something based on partisan hack rhetoric. Thanks for pointing that out.

You seem less intelligent each time you post. Did you even read what I said or do you just want to blame the reps for something the dems could have avoided all along? Does basic logic fail to make any impression upon you?

Having a bad day?

I believe I was addressing Mr. Big Dog's post. If you didn't notice that, then maybe the problem's yours. :P

I guess your problem is reading comprehension then. You quoted my post with your snarky "Oh, if you say so." remark. Yeah, you do get less intelligent each time you post.

Yeah, here's my post history in this thread:

Me replying to Mr. Big Dog (in case you missed it).

Then you reply to my reply. ()

And then I add.

To which you begin hurling insults at me. To which I refresh your memory that I am not addressing substance from you, but from Mr. Big Dog, and perhaps your cables are crossed.

But then you bring about an even more infantile snort, again basing an assessment of intelligence based on who-knows-what professional basis as an expert in the topic of intelligence- from the angle of reading comprehension, without yet realizing you're having some kind of meltdown over something that you missed in the first place.

I guess they want more unwanted pregnancies and a new crime wave that will follow.

Essentially, yes. They also want pregnancies that are supported by PP - via prenatal care, infertility treatments, etc. - to go without that support. And they don't like women receiving cancer screenings. They want STDs to go undiagnosed and untreated so they can spread some more.

Dude, your logic is more twisted than a pigs tail. You quoted me and said the GOP was talking political rhetoric right after I refuted that post. If you can't keep up then go sit in the corner.
