My spouse is one of many in the loooooonnnnnng spousal visa interview waiting line at the US Embassy in Ghana. A few people have suggested that we may have the option to request that he interview at an embassy in neighboring country. If this is true, I know that we need to be up to speed on the nuances of interviewing at a different embassy. But first I want to know if this is really an option and if it is has anyone every successfully used it and how do you request it?

I believe your spouse must be legally living in the alternate country (not as a tourist either) to be interviewed in another country. Otherwise no one would interview in the slowest consulate on earth...Montreal. We'd all go somewhere else where the interview wait times are weeks...not 7 months like they used to be

Good luck

Consulate shopping?

LOL! We are getting desperate in Ghana. The backlog for spousal visa interviews is about to exceed 1 year. There are folks whose processes closed at the NVC in the spring of 2010 and they have not heard one word about an interview. Believe me, we have prayed, written, cried, begged, and keep praying. Outside of prayer, it seems like our only solution is to wait. Just trying to exhaust all possible options and suggestions that have been made to us. Guess we just keep praying and waiting.

I was originally scheduled to be processed through US embassy Ghana as well but Had my case transferred to my country of Birth(Nigeria) after 3 months of wait for an interview at US embassy Ghana.Note:It was easier for me to change embassies cos Nigeria is my country of birth the country that pride itself as the king of visa denials, lol, it was a tough decision for us to take at that point but we did take the risk.lol.I am pretty sure that your husband may have to live in Nigeria legally for at 6 months before hes allowed to have an interview, so switching embassy may not be the best shot for you at this juncture. The wait is terrible But I pray for something drastic to happen for a change at US consulate Ghana because going by the current trend of things it is most likely that your interview wont come up until next year which is the worst anyone will like to hear now but that seems it is the way it is.My case was originally closed at NVC on May 7th 2010 at NVC but it is amazing that people that had their case completed btw February to April of 2010 are yet to get an interview dates in Ghana.I had 2 interviews in Lagos and has been in the states for a little over 2 months now.We are praying for you guys.Hang in there for it shall be well soon(Amen)

Your kind words are most appreciated. We are already snuggled in for the year long ride. I think we have exhausted all options and we will always continue praying. All in God's hands - we accept His decision.
