The USCIS field office in HCMC will close permanently on March 31st. After March 25th all petitions filed in VN need to be filed at the consulate, and then they will be forwarded to the USCIS field office in Bangkok. I suspect this may slow down DCF filings a bit.

The USCIS field offices in foreign countries don't handle K1 visa petitions, and they don't handle visa interviews of any kind. Unless some of the consulate staff are reassigned to handle the intake of petitions that the USCIS field office was handling, I doubt this will have any affect on K1 interviews at all.

Aside from accepting petitions, I'm not sure what tasks the USCIS field office in HCMC was handling. There are some processes that begin at the consulate, but involve USCIS, such as I-212 and I-601 waivers and CRBA's. If the USCIS field office was involved in these things then I imagine that sending them to Bangkok is going to slow things down a bit for people who need waivers or CRBA's.

thank you so much for the info. i was a little scare about my k-1 process. we just sent our third packet today, hopefully they will schedule the interview soon. i'm a little scare for the interview part. any prep i should do in advance?

First off I would like to say good luck and God bless. Do not be scared. This may seem like something that needs to be scared but it is not. The best prep is from here on out you and the fiancee need to chat a lot. Make sure she knows you well. Tell her all about you from a young lad to the present. Make sure she knows as much as she can about your home and area and your friends and co workers. School and family. Hobbies also. Let her know that you are there for her always. She may feel pressured that if she fails then that will be it and never be with you. Make sure you let her know that even in the worse case and they deny that it only means round 1. If anything be excited that it is getting close. That means that you two are closer to being together forever.

Hey Lukcy txn!

That's an awesome advice! I think that our part (the petitioner) is the easiest. Our fiances will be subjected to a lot of pressure but if we can re-asure them that we'll be there to the end it will help with their confidence.

Thanks much for your post!

Yeah I get lucky sometimes and say the right thing.whistling.gif
