I just noticed that on my NOA2 letter for the I-129f in the box for Notice Type is says:

Approval Notice

Valid from 08/23/2006 to 12/21/2006

Consulate: San Jose

Does everyone else have an expiration date? Does this mean that the approval expires on 12/21/2006 or Does the 129F visa, when issued, expire on 12/21/2006?

I think the law says the petition is approved for 4 months and can be extended by the foreign consulate if they think it will take them more time to issue the visa but by law they are supposed to issue the visa before the petition expires. Good Luck

I wouldn't worry yourself about it right now. If you haven't had your interview by the time petition expires I would call consulate in plenty of time to see what is going on and where your packet is. You might have to request an extension. Depends on consulate. My approval expires on 9/1/06. We had interview on 8/2 and was put on administrative review. I asked consulate in Mexico about the expiration date and they advised me no longer applies since our petition is at the consulate and they are working on it.

That's a relief! Our approval "expires" 29 August 2010, and at the pre-interview medical exam on 8 July, they found a tiny little line on her chest X-ray that they think is just a scar from a childhood accident or illness, but to conclusively rule out TB, they have to take sputum samples and culture them for eight weeks which puts us well past the "expiration" date!

Update for 2010 apparently things have changed because now they automatically extend the petition expiring date by another 4 months, if they believe you have abandoned the petition they will contact you by letter to respond before the case is closed. The embassy in Manila told me this last week.

03/12/2010 - I-129F Mailed to Vermont

04/15/2010 - NOA1

03/18/2010 - Touched

06/02/2010 - Email Received "Approved"! (that was fast)

wow, this is great! exactly what i'm looking for, my fiance will be deployed soon, so we need to extend our NOA2 for 6mos or so until he return, did they tell you there's no more need to write a letter to the US Embassy Consulate in Manila re: extending the NOA2? But i will advise him to do so, just to be sure. Salamat! :)
