Delta flight issue

What a terrible day. Sheena had a 815am flight on Delta coming to the states finally. She says goodbye to her family, gives her cel phone to her dad and stands in line to check in at Manila. She has been up since 3am and at the airport by 6am.

At the ticket counter she hands her passport and flight info to the agent. The agents wants to see the credit card that the ticket was purchased on before she can check in.

I call Delta and of course there is nothing they can do its their policy in certain cities to prevent fraud. Of course they charged my credit card and got their money.

The ticket I purchased had a $75.00 rescheduling fee plus the ticket difference. Same flight on the 2nd was $40.00 less so it cost only $40.00.

Get this, I still have to go to the closest Delta ticket counter to confirm my credit card and ID before she can fly. Closest Delta counter is Kansas City 2 hours away.

I am so mad, depressed and frustrated. I haven't heard from Sheena since she left the airport. I know she is very upset just as I am. I havent felt this helpless in a long time.

Waiting another few days isnt a big deal considering how long this whole process has taken. I just cannot believe the hassle of this. Her cousin flew Delta 3 months ago and no one asked to see the credit card.

Wow that is bad. I flew my wife and daughter from Manila in July and they had no problem. I purchased the tickets on-line with my credit card. The only issue was that she was charged an additional "fee" because the tickets were purchased outside the Philippines. She was never asked to show the credit card, nor was I.

That's crazy!

Can you not scan your credit card and email it to her? Whenever my ticket is purchased by my mom, I usually bring a photocopy of the card to show which has her signature. Maybe you can do the same so that you do not need to drive 2 hours to a Delta counter?

I am so sorry you guys had to endure that! Will you be able to get a refund?

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

That's sad to hear and rediculous.

I hate Delta and will never fly them ever again after the last 'incident'. Was taxing out to the take-off line and then the cabin fills with smoke. Apparently oil dripped on the AC and smoked the ####### out of the cabin. They had to disable something in the tail for the entire take-off, flight and landing, (some engine or some #######, forgot, it was late) and after they aired out the plane for 3 hrs, it left, at 2am in the morning.

That sucks. I was worried about that too, but my wife was never asked for the credit card when she got at the airport either. I am pretty sure she flew delta also.

It should have been enough that she called you and you spoke to them, it is just mean that they did not allow her to board. The fact that you spoke to someone is enough to prove that there was no "Fraud" I would suggest writing a letter of complaint.

I am sorry for your situation. I can't believe they would do that. Thanks for posting. I was planning on having my fiancee fly delta with a ticket I purchase with a credit card too. I'll have to rethink that now.

I have to show the credit card with my ID in person. That is the only way they can confirm that the card isnt being used by someone other than me. Sounds crazy.

No refunds. I guess I am lucky that it only cost about $40 to reschedule. The airline industry is like the IRS. Their way or the highway and you cant do ####### about it.

I havent heard from Sheena in 7 hours. I am pretty sure that she is very upset and crying in her pillow and I completely understand. I feel the same. My hands finally have quit shaking enough to type.

I am gonna try to call them and see what happens.

Scanning your ID and the credit card info and emailing it to her should be enough. If you have a Delta account, you should be able to just talk it over on the phone with a customer rep rather than drive there. You should file a complaint.

Okay, that is just weird. My dad is a retired Airline pilot and my mom is currently the customer relations manager of the PAL airport in Manila and I just asked her about this. She said that

1. If ticket was purchased in a ticket office, no need to show anything

2. If purchased online via someone else's credit card, a photocopy of it with authorization SHOULD HAVE SUFFICED.

:/

Sorry for your ordeal. When did you resched it for?

OMG, good thing i read this thread. My airline is also Delta and flight will be on 26th of March. I think i will ask my fiance for photo copy and authorization letter. My fiance is currently deployed at Iraq, I'm not sure if he will have time to go to DElta airline office at Idaho. Or if there's an office in Idaho.

Make sure you get a photocopy of both the front and back of the card with signed authorization. :)

You need to file a complaint!

I would call delta and request a supervisor, once you purchased the ticket with a credit card, normally thats the point that they verify it. If the ticket is for someone other than the your name (purchaser)

If they refuse to do anything, then I would do a charge back on your card as fraud , and try a different airline. Thats insane, you bought and paid for the ticket , no reason they should have to verify anything

Where did you purchase the ticket from, delta themselves or some 3rd party site?
