Civil Surgeon affordable NY/NJ area

Hello,

We are looking a civil surgeon in the NY/NJ area that would not charge too much for the I-693. So far the cheapeast price we found is $185 per person. We have insurance and we do not understand why this is not covered by our health insurance. After all, it is a physical examination (with blood work and vaccin if necessary). All this is covered by our insurance. We do not understand why we have to pay such high costs just to report the result of the physical in a form. If you have any suggestion, please let us know. We could also have all the tests done by our primary doctor and send the result to a reasonable civil surgeon. Let us know...

Thanks in advance.

Wally

No you cannot have anything done by a primary doctor. Everything has to be done by the civil surgeon. They will then sign the papers, stamp them and seal it in an envelope which is a DO NOT OPEN envelope.

Keep calling around use the USCIS civil surgeon locator on their website with your zip code if you need to find more in the area. Don't think you will find anything lower than 185$ tho thats the lowest I have seen for a full medical.

Immigration medical is not covered by health insurance.

:wow: That's steep hey. I thought you could only see the CS in your area as quoted on USCIS sight. I got mine for $50 There has to be cheaper surely. I take it your medical has expired. Or are you just wanting vaccinations transferred on to 693?

The OP does not indicate adjustment of status from a K-1 visa, they posted this to the AOS from (Work/Student/Tourist visa) forum

AOS from anything but a K-Visa requires a FULL medical, not just the vac supplement.

$185 per person is not bad for a full medical, I have seen doctors RIP people off for $300 - $400 for full medicals, and have seen some K-Visa holders let doctors spank them for this too.

heres what you need to do to save some money go to your primary hospital acredited by your insurance get the x-ray order from the doctor of of your physical exam. a let your the hospital have your x ray tell them forward the result to the clinic that did your physical exam for immigration.if you lack some vaccination go to the medical health center offer free vaccines bring it with you your copy of vaccination they will write down the current immunization that you just did, then let the clinic just copy the immunization you have just made.Lots of job to do it but you can save some money though.

Thank you all for your reply!

Hi Barbara. Our medical did not expired and we need to do the full medical. $50 is pretty interesting. Where could we get such a rate?

Wally

Please fill in profile details and perhaps your timeline.

WHAT visa did you use to enter the USA?? You posted this to forum that indicates you did NOT use a K-Visa.

My husband's medical in NY cost $200, so $185 seems good. There are usually two appointments. The first, they give you a TB skin test and take blood, etc. At that first appointment, you can see if you are missing any vaccines and get them through your insurance, or the county health clinic. Then bring back the results and the CS will be able to complete the exam, and review the results of your blood tests etc.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

I believe my exam cost around $150 in NYC, just off 6th avenue at 15th street....

Dr Richard Goldberg

he was very good seemed to know exactly what he was doing, definitely didn't try to sell me anything extra that i didn't need.

The clinic is a respectable family practice, nothing flashy but not offensive either....

I made sure they were in my health insurance network to cover the cost of the blood tests....

Oh and the receptionist still called it the INS exam and i took my own blank I-693 form

Yeah Wally as YouAndDan said we don't know what visa you came here on. I was assuming it was a K1 and you are now doing AOS in which case you don't need to do another medical just a vaccination transferred over to I-693 part 1,2 and 5. Let us know ok update and do a time line would be great. As to where you would pay what I did I have no idea in your city, but if you check USCIS and look up CS in your zip code area you could ring around and find out.

I ended up finding a cheaper one in Bronx - Dr. William Kalafatic. It was $130 I believe. I dont remember how much additional I paid for the chest x-ray they did for TB. Perhaps you can call and find out.

Thanks for this. I was looking for one here in NYC myself. It is $100 and they see patients on a walk in basis from Sunday to Thursday. They are closed on Fridays and Saturdays.

I dont have any record of immunizations and when I asked how much it would cost for shots she said it could be up to $280! When I asked if I could get the shots done at the city she said that it was better to speak to the doctor there and have him do it. For $280 I think Ill just go to the city clinic and get it done there on the sliding scale)

Dr Syed in Jamaica NY office told me that it would be $150 for everything including shots but I read a review that they charged administration fees etc as an addition. I will probably call them again today to double check the cost.

Regarding Dr. Lin and "walk in basis from Sunday to Thursday", I just spoke with the good doctor myself. They don't open Sundays any more.
