Hi my Husband went for his citizenship interview. He passed the tests. However he was not granted because he needs to take in letter of financial supports from his children mothers. The problem is this they donot want to write the letter. Can he take remittance receipts to prove he is supporting his kids?

He has to prove that he is a person of good moral character, someone who pays his taxes and follows up on on his legal obligation to pay spousal and/or child support. If he has a way to document this properly, I don't see a problem.

He may also tell his ex that the moment he becomes a USC, she's off the hook regarding the Affidavit of Support for him.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

I don't know if this helps but my friend applied for is citizenship a few years ago and ran into the same problem. My friend was ask to provide receipts of child support payments which he didn't have because he paid his baby mothers with cash anyways my friend wasn't able to provide receipts of child support payments and they deny him his citizenship even though both of his baby mothers wrote letters stating that he supported his kids and that he was a good father. The CO did not want to see any letter they wanted to see receipts.

I have another friend who applied for her citizenship and she was denied also because the CO wanted receipts to prove that she was supporting her kids back in Guyana. She couldn't produce any receipts at the time because she send money back home mostly with family members who were going for visit. She alway have some family member traveling back to Guyana but anyway her mother is the one that takes cares of her children back home. Her mother wrote a letter and had it notarized through an attorney and they still denied her petition saying that was not enough to prove that she takes care of her kids. All I'm saying is your husband receipts should be enough because immigration didn't want to see letters in both of my friend cases they wanted to see hard core evidence like receipts. Good luck!

I have no business on comment anyone's previous decision in life.

But guys, court has system/FOC offices that protects you if you paying the child support.

There was a case in my immediate friends circle. EX was not giving anything to the guy. She even wrote a not good letter to USCIS.

He provided the FOC court documents (account statements, it shows money goes to the account and money given to the mother, simple), that cleared everything.

We should ask everyone to use the system, not to be messed-up by ex-spouses.
