You're pretty blind and have a short memory. The one Muslim who came up on me in the middle of a discussion soon proved that they had no idea what they were defending when they took your side. As soon as she started sounding more like me, and defending Islam, your ilk immediately came down on her like bricks, and she hasn't posted on a Muslim bashing thread since.

I posted 30 repetitious and often gratuitous examples of your sides handiwork. You give my position more plausibility by continuing to attack without demonstrating the damage I've done to you. Mentioning the Crusades, among other events, as counterpoints to arguments arguments showing a history of violence by Muslims is not gratuitous. You also don't have evidence of an onslaught of anti-Christian threads posted by Muslims or posts attacking your beliefs or historical figures coming out of nowhere.

The bottom line is, there is not only no attempt at balance in the threads, there is the constant and unyielding drumbeat of "Muslims are bad, Islam is evil" from several from bigots who high five each other and castigate anyone who dares to agree with them with personal attacks. All the while, they complain about being called bigots, racists and haters despite posting bigoted, racist and hateful comments.

Stop complaining that you're being called out and do what you can to prove that the only Muslim regular on the board, me, is as bad as you claim. Put your money where your mouth is or stop whining and admit you suck at this.

I don't feel persecuted as you do and think of you as a bigot because you say the same things or thoughts about my religion as I say about yours. You are allowed to say and debate in your own way what you want as am I. You are the one coming here to whine about this not I.

IMO things are not worse than they have always been. This is not a new problem.

To be completely honest - I kind of like the way things are right now, level of moderation included. We can see exactly what kind of misinformation and bigotry is abound. And Sofiyya really does an excellent job at making them all look like fools. Her defense is far superior to not letting them speak in the first place. More minds are turned, if only slightly, in the direction of being open minded rather than being closed minded.

To be clear, I don't want to silence them, bigotry should be exposed. Im perplexed by the uneven application of the TOS when insults against religions are leveled. Islam is savaged by ignorant posters who insist they know it all and actively seek to perpetuate a negativity toward Muslims to the extent where they demonize attempts to correct misconceptions and misinformation. They are willfully stifling debate and that needs to be dealt with.

I really dislike that the moderators do not leave messages when someone was suspended. I'm sure that they are instructed not to do from Ewok, I just wish I knew why. Some people on this board need to be publicly scolded.

Sofiyya, I want to commend you for standing your ground. Fundamentalist thinking never works for very long in the real world regardless of which position you are a fundamentalist on (Christian/Jewish/Muslim/Agnostic etc). When someone's beliefs and thought process are so rigid as to be scared and unable to accept provocative conversation then they are the one losing out. Unfortunately all too often they get backed into a corner and fell they must fight their way out instead of thinking through the situation.

The report button works, because all moderators are immediately wired into the issue. In the background, Moderators collectively discuss issues and apply the TOS as appropriate.

Without the report, often times an individual Moderator will make a spot call, sometimes incorrect. You will always get the best mileage from a thread report.

That said, Moderation is not the perfect solution, but we do try to be fair at all times. There will be opposing opinion at times on Moderator action, which then gets bumped to Captain Ewok for a final decision.

At the end of the day, we Mods are just VJ members with elevated membership, giving back to the site that helped us through the complicated jungle of US Immigration.

With respect to non-immigration matters, this consumes the majority of our Mod time here. As you can imagine, this is a very difficult endeavor. I hope this clears things up a bit.

I'm not nearly on here as much as I used to be, and I have to say that many times, I don't even bother going into P&R because now that it has its own forum, I find that it's just a barrage of the usual merry go round that was in OT, just multiplied.

So I don't want to sit here and claim that what anyone says in here is a skewered perception, as I have not read every thread, every exchange. But I will say that I have read several, and have interacted with Sofiyya personally, and found her to be caustic, argumentative, and many times will twist words despite whatever is being said to the contrary. I've seen her personally attack people, calling them azz lickers, bashers, or question some people's 'Muslimness', being belligerent, going off on tangents, being snide and ever so clever in the wording of your attack posts. You've personally attacked me and my religion sarcastically 'good Catholic girl you are'. You've called me a basher personally - when I have gone out of my way and repeated ad nauseum how I feel about Muslims (I'm not a hater), yet somewhere in your twisted mind, you turn things around to be the persecuted one.

The threads I've read on p&r that have problems with certain Muslims all seem to address specific instances of violence, terrorism, etc. You turn around and have actually said 'they're not as bad as Nazis' as if somehow trying to mitigate how specific extremist terrorists are tarnishing your religion. I haven't seen you turn around and say 'yes, that's wrong, but they've got it wrong', instead - you turn around with 'oh so who's religion doesn't have violence?' as if somehow to mitigate what happened 1000s of years ago to what's happening NOW.

So you kinda invite your own issues there...because the way I see it, the threads that are there that speak negatively about Islam seem to do so with specific, current events, and are referring to extremist terrorists. To expect no one to talk about Islam when it's used as the reason of killing people TODAY, is quite absurd.

I think St. Stephen may be right. We need more subforums. We have them by region. Perhaps we need to create them by ideology as well. So separate the Muslims, the Christians, the Atheists, the Antitheists, the Druids, the Unitarians, the Zoroasters, et cetera, like we do the Filipinos and the Brits.

Then we can start separating the political ideologies as well into subforums. Then peace will reign for all men and women and everything in between. Mother will be proud.

You even tried to control what I said about being a trust fund baby. I can be harsh, but its in response to attacks on me; you want me to call them angels. You have dirty hands, Lisa, and your pit bulls even follow you here. I'm not at all surprised that you defend racism, xenophobia and Muslim bashers (hey, the truth hurts). You haven't met a insult about me you didn't like. That's why, although you don't post much, you managed to find this thread and use it as a platform to demean me and defend haters.
