I wanted to know which Marriage Certificate do I need from the Philippines. My wife has the one that they give to her from the Civil Registrar stamped with that the NSO has recivied and stated that this is to certify that this document was issued by the city civil registrar who is authorized to issue the same and whose authority was confirmed by the civil registrar which appears on the document is the same with the specimen signature officially submitted and filed with this office. It has a stamp with the authentication officer National Statistics Office. Can I use this to submit my I-130 or do I have to get the one with red seal from the NSO. Please help.

Thanks to all.

IMO, you should send the NSO copy of the marriage certificate because NSO copy is the legal copy most widely used when marriage license is ask. although, some times, the civil registar form is asked, but the NSO is much more credible since it is written on a Security paper...

See item 3 on page 1 of this link: http://photos.state.... _updated2_.pdf

You do not need the "red ribbon" certificate for submission of the I-130 or for the interview. You will be required to have the NSO issued copy of you marriage certificate for the interview, the same one as in the sample everyone showed you previously. I only submitted the non-NSO civil registrars copy with my I-130, If I'd had the NSO issued one at the time, I would have submitted it.

Remember, for the I-130 submission, only send in photocopies. Originals will not be returned it you submit them. Once you move on to the NVC, that's when you'll be required to submit the "original" documents.

We submitted ours last December 2 (received Dec 6) and we got our NOA1 last December 12. We just included photocopy of our Certified True copy of Marriage Certificate issued by the local registrar. Since our NSO copy will be available a month after we had it registered and we don't wanna wait for another month to send the I-130 to USCIS. It was accepted and we are now waiting for NOA2. The NSO copy will be needed in the NVC step and the interview. :)

Yes, for the I-130 Certified True copy of the Civil Registry Certificate is okay but for NVC you should have the Official NSO Marriage Certificate (send a photocopy) and have the original on hand for the Visa interview at the USEM.

While you're getting your "Official" Documents (Marriage Certificate, Birth Certificates, etc) in the Philippines it's wise to spend a little extra and get a few copies so that you have extras when you get to the US.

So its ok then with a copy from the certified civil registry certificate to submit it?
