As for burger places, I'd definitely choose Jolibee over McDonald's. I'd take Whataburger over either one, but Jolibee was just fine for me. My only complaint with Jolibee is that they always seemed crowded. I guess that's a good problem for a business to have.

Taco Cabana is fine, but here in San Antonio there are Mexican food restaurants everywhere you turn. I'm not complaining but I am getting fatter.

Go Spurs Go. It's time for another river parade.

B.

I could live the rest of my life eating Mexican food every day and not grow tired of it, which drives my wife nuts. She has slowly grown to mildly like Mexican food, but starts to break out in hives if she doesn't have some variation of asian food regularly.

My 9 yr. old son, who lived in the Philippines until he was 5, loves the burger steak at Jollibee, and I have to admit it is pretty tasty. But again, if I had a choice between an authentic Filipino restaurant or Jollibee, it would be no contest.

Wow it took long enough to get a Jolibee in Hawaii  . Oh well when me and the wife can afford to pay 400 dollars to fly to Oahu, we may try it.

I was happy when I saw that on the news. So we went there today and there was a long line outside jollibee but longer inside. wheew... was it worth it? Im not sure coz we drove all the way to waipahu from the town and waited in a long line. Maybe if theres no long line and theres a drive thru then it will really be worth it. hehehe.

For those in the San Diego area, there is a small Jollibee's in Mira Mesa, on Mira Mesa Blvd. (link goes to exact location)

The beef at Jollibee isn't that great, even the "McDo" beef in the Philippines is better although the buns were often stale at McDo over there. I didn't try Jollibee's food on this side of the pond yet, I guess I should... :) If I want a good fast food burger, In & Out is it. If there's no In & Out around, Carl's or Burger King will do. But for a real burger, no fast food will do. It's got to be almost too big to hold. I'm suddenly reminded of a tiny hole-in-the-wall burger place in Asotin, Washington. The burgers there are so big, they sell them in fourths to most customers (they fully cover a full size dinner plate). Aha, I found it, yay for Google Maps! Effie Tavern. (Asotin is a small town south of there).

As much as I love Jollibee, in-n-Out Burger is insanely good....there's no contest! I give kudos though to Jollibee due to their diverse menu...burgers, fried chicken, spaghetti...but nothing can top a Double Double with Cheese ("animal style" of course!) and I'm sure Filipinos love to have a little bit of home in the states.

I spent six weeks in Bayugan this summer. I ate at the Jolibee in the Butuan mall. I am now officially a fan. But I don't think there will be one here in San Antonio anytime soon. :(

B.

Ate at the Jolibee in Butuan. Much rather eat a McDoo at McD's. Better yet, some good barbecue at a local place close to the mall.

Thought I would be a good uncle and take the kids to McD's. They had never been to McD's. The kids wanted to go to Jolibee. I should have listened to the kids. 18 of us. 14 McDo's and 4 happy meals. About $24 US. But no rice with the happy meals. The kids were pissed! :crying:

I'll take a Jolibee burger over a McD. burger anytime. However, if you give me a chance for BBQ, then that's where I'm going. And there's so many choices here too.

It just seems so strange to me to have rice with a burger. There I was at Jolibee, telling the cashier that I really don't want the rice, I just want fries. She looked at me like I was the dumbest person she'd ever seen. Sadly, she's not the first person ever to look at me that way.

I don't know - Jollibee is no different than McDee's or another fast food chain, other than it originated in the Philippines (by a Chinese businessman). I realize it's become iconic with Filipino culture, but the food tastes like your typical fast food variety. I'd much rather have an authentic Filipino restaurant open up in town than a Jollibee.

Really, got to bring down the room with the OP that has been waiting for the Jollibee to open with such fun, anticipation and excitement? Really?
