Can anyone guide me or explain on how to fill this section of the I-134.

I own a real estate value at: ___________

With mortgages or encumburance thereon amounting?: _____________

I know what my real estate value is. I am just confused by what it means by "with mortgages or encumberance thereon amounting".

Thank you

Mortgage is what you owe on your house. For example if for $150000 home value you paid $100000 in cash then the rest is mortgage. If you paid all with cash then there is no mortgage.Anything you own for the rest of your life to pay in mortgage. Also interests included in the mortgage.

Thank you for the assistance.

If your income is sufficient, it's best to leave the asset questions blank. If you need to claim assets, you'll need the home appraised and a mortgage statement showing the current mortgage balance.

Thank you for the sound advice. I think I'll just leave it blank. Now to support the income, do I need to include my pay stubs and tax income? would it be sufficient enough? I'm kinda wary including my bank statements.

Cheers.

If you wish to include bank information (optional) then it is better to ask for a "bank letter". Get this from an officer at your bank. This simply states that you have an account, when it was opened, the deposits to that account in the last twelve months and the current balance. Again this is optional but I believe more is better.

Th emost recent year tax return or tax transcript and a few recent check stubs should be sufficient. You may also want to get a letter from your employer.

Understand that all of this is "optional". You do not have to show anything...and they do not have to issue a visa. The goal line is movable by the consulate so it is best to show all you can. I agree, however, that you do NOT have to list real estate or other assets if your income is sufficient.

I started to fill this form out when I saw this. My income and cash deposits should be plenty sufficient to prove I can support my fiancee. But I also have a house on which I'm underwater and not listing it seems like hiding a "liability". It's not much of a liability to me and I suppose there could be other debts (cars, etc.) that they don't ask for on this form, but it somehow feels like I need to disclose this.

Is it really okay to leave this blank?
