Please forgive me for posting this again, but I really need someone's help and haven't gotten anything that helps yet.

I need to get Police Clearance from Brunei for my fiancee in the Philippines. The instructions to do so are posted at http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_4881.html?cid=3522. However, when my fiancee went to the Brunei Embassy in Manila, they gave her a list of requirements different than what is posted on the link. They want her to give them a "Photocopy of the request letter from the embassy concerned." They even gave her a paper called "Requirements for Certificate of Good Conduct" which states the request letter is needed. All other requirements on this paper match what is posted on travel.state.gov. Without the request letter, they will not give her the police clearance.

How do we get a "Request letter from the embassy concerned" in regards to getting a police clearance from Brunei for a K-1 Visa? I assume "the embassy of concern" is the US Embassy in Manila. However, since my I-129F is not approved yet, I don't know if they will help. Do we need to wait for the I-129F to be approved and the case sent to Manila? We do not want to wait for that since it might prolong the visa process. If we do have to wait, how do we get the request letter after the case is sent to Manila? I need this request letter as soon as possible.

Please help. Thanks.

Thanks for the info. How long did it take for you to get the Hong Kong police clearance?

I was really hoping she could get her visa within 2 months of NOA2. But if she has to wait for the police clearance before even scheduling her interview, I think it might take much longer. I wish there was a way to get the request letter from the US Embassy sooner. Has anyone been able to show the NOA1 papers to the US Embassy and been able to get a request letter with that?

To finish this post with more information, I will post what mrsean told me through personal messages:

Hi. Thanks for your reply to my question about getting a request for police clearance. Can you tell me how long it took for you to get your police clearance from Hong Kong after your case was moved to the US Embassy in Manila? Also, how long between NOA2 and your visa? I was hoping to see this info on your timeline, but I see you don't have one. Thanks.

-James

it took about a month from time i mailed all my info and fingerprints to hong kong [dhl or lbc carrier or one of the major ones i forget which one even fed ex]with tracking number then hong kong mails it to embassy in manila but i tracked it with hong kongs carrier tracking number to manila post office then the us embassy in manila picks up there own mail from the post office with embassy personel!!!!i was on phone with every one alot!!! just making sure

Thanks for the information. I hope we can get it that quickly too. I don't think we will be mailing anything to Brunei, but instead, the Brunei embassy will do it when we give them the required documents. Hopefully they will be quick and maybe give us someway to track the delivery as you did.

I assume it did not take long to get the request letter from the US embassy after your case was transfered there.

Thanks,

James

took about an hour, go to the information then tell them you need letter saying you need a police clearance i think i went to counter x not sure

Thank you so much for the information. This will be so very helpful. I wish the best for the both of you.
