Visa delayed because we didn't have Cenomar at interview

My wife had her interview today, but didn't get her Visa because she didn't have the Cenomar from NSO (probably my fault). She went to the NSO immediately, and they told her that her Cenomar will be released on Nov 15, then the Visa will be mailed to her. Has anybody else gone through this? How long will we have to wait until she gets her Visa? Are we talking about waiting for a few more months, or only a few days? Ohhhhhhhhhh, what a day. Thanks as always.

:blink: How is she going to get a certificate of no marriage if she is married to you? I'm concerned because my wife's Cenomar was taken by the registrar when we got our marriage license.

Thanks,

George

I am wondering the same thing too.

I assume that she would need a CENMAR & not a CENOMAR as she is married. CENOMAR are for single people.

I just reviewed the "packet 4" from the Manila Embassy and I don't see a requirement for a "CENOMAR" for persons in our situation.

http://photos.state....0_updated2_.pdf

Do I recall someone mentioning something about a "packet 3" maybe? It really worries me that someone didn't get their visa because they didn't have a document that's not on the list of required documents.

This is a good example of why people should spend more time in the regional forums, in the PH forum this has been mentioned many times.

For married couples, the PH national should contact NSO and request a Cenomar. Since you are married what you will actually get is a Cemar listing your marriage (and any previous ones if annulled).

My wife was basically told that there was no problem with anything but they needed to confirm her Cemar and then her visa would be issued. The IO was suprised when she pulled it out of her folder and handed it to him... That changed his response to approved on the spot.

You can go to the NSO's website to request & pay for it, they'll deliver to your home!

Yes, very true. I saw it on the list, but of course being the really smart guy that I am (haha!), I thought there is just no way we will need that document. As I understand it, they are going to send the CEMAR to the Embassy as soon as it is available, and then they will release the Visa to her. Maybe I'll browse the Philippines section, but does anybody have any idea how long this will take? Her CEMAR is supposed to be released to them on the 15th. As of now, I've got a flight scheduled to bring her to the USA on the 22nd, but I'm guessing I'm going to have to cancel the flight and re-schedule. I was just wondering if anybody had an idea how long it will take to get the visa after the CEMAR is received.

I think you mean she didn't have the NSO marriage certificate. Married people cannot get a certificate of no marriage. They are married. Yes, I know that some errantly refer to the NSO marriage certificate as CENOMAR but that doesn't make it one. You'll need that NSO generated marriage certificate.

Yes, I've seen it referred to as CEMAR. Dunno if that is correct, but anyways, just need to know how quickly she will get the visa once this is amended. Since nobody seems to have this information, does anybody have any good leads as to where I might be able to find out? Might I have any luck calling the US Embassy over there? Or maybe NSO?

NSO can't tell you what the US Consulate will do. They are agencies of different governments. A few days is the norm after submitting missing documentation.

About booking a flight before visa issuance I dont think that's a good move though. The USEM advices all applicants not to finalize their travel arrangements until they have been issued visas.Hoping she'll get it in time!

And being a K3 Im sure that she already had a CFO counselling, but she also need to have a CFO sticker affixed to her passport, without that she wont be able to leave the country. If you're aware of it then that's great...Goodluck!!

Thanks as always Earp, I recognize the name, I think you've helped me before. Yes, she does have the stamp ready, so we're good there. Ultimately, I think I'm going to end up canceling the flights. The only reason I booked them so prematurely is because I can't leave work in the month of December (I work in retail). I needed to have this wrapped up by Thanksgiving, or wait until 2011. It looks like now I will have to wait until 2011 or just let her fly over to the US solo. I have been pounding the internet for about 10 hours now, and I honestly cannot find a single case that has this same delay, so I don't know if this will take days or months. I know it has to have happened to SOMEBODY. I'll call the US Embassy later, but I'm not optimistic that they will give me much info. Thanks again for the help and well-wishes!

Hmmmm, a few days perks me up a lil' bit. Thanks!

You're welcome! One more question though. Are you sure that she already has the stamp/sticker?After attending the seminar the CFO will issue a certification and dont confuse it with the stamp. She might just have the GCC(Guidance and Counselling Ceritificate).Once your visa is released, you will return to CFO to continue with your registration. The CFO sticker will then be affixed on your passport.

They will not put a stamp on her passport unless she has a visa because that's one of the requirements.

Yes, you are totally correct. My wife mis-spoke when she told me. She has the certificate. She needs the stamp.
