Hey Folks,

Especially folks from Gujarat and those who need to go to Ahmedabad Passport Office for passport Clerance certificate, below is a useful hints, tips or information for all:

On 1st Nov, 2010 I personally visited passport office in Ahmedabad and stood in the line for pcc. At the gate of the building compound entrance the security person asked what are you here for and where is your doc's. (He didn't check anything thoroughly, just glanced it). After entering to the compound, I saw that the another security guy was asking for your purpose of visit and sending people in two different queue. One queue is of-course for passport applications and another one is for PCC. There were about 30-40 people in the queue for pcc. So everyone was doing final arrangements while waiting for their no. to come.

I have also noticed that before even they allow you to enter to the passport office, your documents and forms are being checked by another officer who stands outside the passport office door. Well, I kinda knew that I will not be allowed at the passport office since at this stage I do not have the 'CHECKLIST LETTER' OR 'INTERVIEW APPOINTMENT LETTER'. (I went with some of my relatives who are ready for this process). Below are the facts that I can share with all VJ'ers :

Here are the facts:

1. Passport office will not issue PCC without having 'Checklist Letter' OR 'Interview Letter' in hand FROM NVC. (This is well known to everyone by now). - IV fee bill OR PAID fee invoice are not considered by PASSPORT OFFICE AHMEDABAD for pcc purpose.

2. If your case is F1, F4 or other kind where you are the Beneficiary and there are derivatives in your case, such as children and/or wife than,

Passport office asks for separate checklist letter for each derivatives including main beneficiary. (It's bullshit, :bonk: I know, because NVC doesn't issue such kind of letter), OK! NVC issues checklist letter and that contain names of all DERIVATIVES. According to passport officials - they do not want to accept this as checklist letter for derivatives, instead for any/all derivatives, they want CHECKLIST LETTER OF their own name. (I LAUGHED A LOT, BECAUSE THIS IS LIKE ... Chaaa Karta Kitli Garam....lol... :rofl:NVC DOESN'T DECIDE ALL THIS, IT IS BEING DECIDED BY THE PASSPORT OFFICE. HAHAHAHA)....

SO HERE is the whole story,....so this could help some people across gujarat, India who are in this process........

Hi krutz,i didn't know that you are also gujju too. Nice to hear that,i am also from ahmedabad. I went also for PCC before 1 month. As we did DCF so i had the interview letter. But i have also marked that the security guy on the entrance gate was looking for checklist or interview letter from everybody. If somebody didn't have those then he was stopping those people. But in some cases he was not able to stop some people, bcoz in those cases he was not able to read english docs(as i think so... ). But they people have bad luck once the main officer looked their final papers. He had rejected some of them(like 4-5 people) and he told them you need NVC checklist or Interview letter. Neither he was ready to listen to anybody nor want to explain them in deep. I was also in queue. So i came out from the queue and i helped 3-4 people about this. All of them had not the interview letter. So i suggested them just get police pcc from local police station and send all others docs to NVC and also include one letter about explaining the situation that "We are unable to get passport PCC from RPO,ahmedabad without checklist or interview letter. So we will submit it at interview time". I realized that this is too hard for those un-educated people.I think people in RPO,ahmedabad are not well trained. Everyday many people are facing this same situation.

wow!!! this is absolutely ludicrous for the ahmedabad RPO to do this. Neither Bombay, B'lore nor Delhi RPOs do this (not sure about the Hyderabad; have heard horror stories about them too); where do Ahmedabad get off doing this kind of nonsense???!?! sad part here is that I'm not sure you can complain to anyone about this; NVC and USCIS are non-entities in this case...going to the INdian gov't is akin to punching yourself in the balls. the other sad thing here is that i dont think this is a money making scheme either (which would be easily solvable)...it is unfortunate ppl are being made to suffer cuz of some uneducated idiot chowkidaar who just wants to show power cuz his life is going nowhere...while my wife and I fortunately didnt go thru this (in B'lore, you just pay ppl off standard rates of 200 Rs for PCC), we did have to go thru a similar hellish process obtaining my wife's birth cert in Kerala. all these kinds of ppl should be made to go thru the similar process to understand what they're doing...either that or be castrated. i wish you guys best of luck!

Once in awhile, right in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairy tale - My beautiful wife Soni

Hello people

I could easily get the passport clearance certificate from Ahmedabad office without the checklist or interview letter

If you have a document cover sheet showing your AOS bill or DS-230 bill as paid along with the barcode, your name and the NVC Address it will be just fine.

So the thing is you just have to show your document cover sheet and they will let you in.

Atleast when i went they needed only the coversheet.

After going through the documents they will send the PCC at your home address in less than 4 working days.

I'd suggest everyone to atleast give a try and save your month waiting for an RFE and then going to get the PCC.

Goodluck

Well ya may be then i got lucky

because the person who checks the documents outside the office just looks on the paper where he can see something as barcode and the NVC address which he might think is a checklist.

But i strongly believe you should go with the paid bar code atleast once and give a try.

When i went i just took a chance and got lucky.

LOL......you took my point. I was going to tell you that thing. The officer who stand up outside an checks everybody docs is a like not well trained. He is also moody man. And yeah you are right that he wants to see the paper where barcode,NVC address & beneficiary name is included.Because i went there 2 times and i seen the same officer doing this thing. He was very roughly checking.Even in my case, he told me where is your interview letter?? I told him it is all the way down.So he directly checked it and told me go to window 7. You: How are you, sir?

Gateman: What's your business asking this to me?

You: Ok, understood! Do you have latest plasma TV at home?

Gateman: We do have old CRT one.

You: Do you have any intention to buy a plasma recently?

Gateman: I wish, but I don't make enough income.

You, Don't worry sir, please accept this donation from me.

Gateman, Thank you! Go ahead and apply for your PCC here.

Both are happy! End of the chapter :star:

Let me add one more thing :star:

You: How are you, sir?

Gateman: What's your business asking this to me?

You: Ok, understood! Do you have latest plasma TV at home?

Gateman: We do have old CRT one.

You: Do you have any intention to buy a plasma recently?

Gateman: I wish, but I don't make enough income.

You, Don't worry sir, please accept this donation from me.

Gateman, Thank you! Go ahead and apply for your PCC here.

Both are happy! End of the chapter :star:
