Divorce Decree & Beneficiary Interview

I'm confused about whether my divorce decree needs to be presented by my wife at her interview, or if I provide the documents first. Am I supposed to send my divorce decree to my wife so that she can present it at the interview? I assumed that the consulate, where the interview will take place, would already have all documents pertaining to me via the I-130 Packet I will be sending out. Please clarify, and thanks in advance.

We had applied for K1 and my then fiance did give me certified copies of the divorce decrees to present at the interview. There is another Romanian Vjer here who was delayed in getting her CR1 visa because her husband hadn't sent the certified divorce decree. The effort is minimal and so worthy it if you guys want to be together as soon as possible. Best of luck!

The reason people recommend that original documents be taken to interviews is as follows- Interviewing officer: "Do you have a copy of your husband's divorce decree? We don't seem to have one in your file." This is the US government we're dealing with here.. better safe than sorry

IV package at NVC asks about the beneficiary's divorce decree if applicable.

But at interview time, as all others said, it is a "very good" idea to carry the petitioner's original divorce decree (if applicable) as well.

Oh, I think you are in the initial stage with I-130. Here the copy of the petitioner's (if applicable) divorce decree is enough.

At the I-130 stage proof of termination of any and all prior marriages of both petitioner and beneficiary are required. Photocopies are acceptable.

"If either you or your spouse were previously married, submit copies of documents showing that all prior marriages were legally terminated (court certified copies of the petitioner's and/or intending immigrant's divorce documents)."

Originals or certified copies are required for NVC and "should" be forwarded to the consulate for the interview but as squeaky580 posted better to be safe than sorry. I bought duplicate originals of all the required documents to my interview just in case.

At I-130 stage, the copies of both the petitioner's and/or beneficiary's divorce decree are needed, if they have divorce in their prior marriage(s).

I agree that she will require the originals ( and a photocopy ). The photocopies dont show the court seal very well, hence they require the original. When she goes to her interview, she will surrender the original and a copy, they will return all the originals when the interview is over .. so about 15 minutes later.
