I read some thread here (vj) in the past were they paid both one after the other. And aslo mailed that.. But you are saying that's not possible? Is there a diff IIN no. for the ds-230 bill?

When you go to the Immigrant Visa Invoice Payment Center and type in your NVC case number and INN number you will see the AOS and IV fees listed.

https://ceac.state.gov/CTRAC/Invoice/Signon.aspx?node=Signin

There is a heading that says "Payment Status" Mine for AOS currently says "In Process" because I have paid the bill. I can't remember what it said when I could pay it, "Not Paid" maybe. Anyway under the IV Application (DS-230) mine says "Not Invoiced" The website will not let me generate a bill to pay it.

Normally you pay the DS-230 after the DS-3032 but that doesn't seem to always happen. The AOS fee is generated separately from those two. What happens is that the AOS comes quickly which is why you see most people paying for that one first.

For my co-sponsor and I....it says to have 6 months worth of pay stubs....does it have to be 6 consecutive months? I have pay stubs, but am missing a few here and there....and just wondering if people really send in the full 6 months of pay stubs, or a few stubs is ok....

Hello Everyone!

I'm very very glad to be here.:D Received an email on 11/3 that my approved NOA2 was mailed to me...so I haven't received the hard copy as yet.

One question I have so far is how do I know when NVC received my package? Do they send an email or something? I know I have to wait 1-2 weeks for that to happen. Just not sure when I can start calling to get my Case # and IIN.

Thank you.

One question I have so far is how do I know when NVC received my package?

Thank you.

The 'very first' notice that you'll have - is that

when you call into the AVR (you have the number on speed-dial now, yes?)

and enter the USCIS receipt # -

it gives you the case number back.

Keep calling, nightly (yes, even on the weekends) until the voice notice changes from 'no record found' to 'hey ! here's yer Consulate Case # '

Once you have the casenumber from the AVR, NVC is 'ready for processing' - so - really - don't fret over 'when' NVC actually receives the casefile - as

there's some backroom operations that go on, that we know nothing about (from mailroom to filing to data entry to ...) that predicates all , before you actually are issued this 'case #' on the AVR.

Do you really want to wait on postal notification? When you get a moment, re-read the links in the post I made above yours.

Good Luck !

Well, I called the NVC around 8:20PM PST (this is 11/4) and was able to talk with an operator around 8:50 PST.

When we connect on the phone he asked me for the number. I tried taking him off speaker phone (for some reason I was a little nervous (in a good way) tonight. Wasn't able to take him off so I just kept the cell phone on speaker.

After saying hello I gave him my CIS number. after confirming the number with me he asked for my beneficiaries name and date of birth. I was so happy he was asking becuase this was different from the last two days I called a human being. I gave him my wife's information and then he asked for mine. I provided that and then he confirmed my phone number contact.

After that he asked if we had email addresses to give him. I have him mine first then then my wife's and he confirmed them with me.

He asked if I had any questions. I asked if I had a NVC number yet. He said yes and gave me our GUZ number.

I then asked for the Invoice ID number. He had to look and then provided that also.

I asked if he would tell me when the case was received. He first mention the Notice of action 2 date of October 26 and then said the case was at NVC on Nov 3rd (so I am assuming this is the scanned in date).

He mentioned that not all the documents have arrived and that may take 4 to 6 weeks. (I simply let him know I understood).

I was just so happy that I was getting all this information so I thanked him many times for his help.

I definately got connected to some you was able to help me and we had a very professional conversation. This made my night. :innocent::thumbs::dance::D

Also, should I also count 401k to assets?

You can, but it's the current 'cash out with penalties' value minus the instant 'tax adjustment' value.

Check with yer plan administrator or review your agreement - the formulas are available for computing penalties , and of course, the IRS has the 'tax percentage' available online.

Thanks Darnell,

After I posted, I thought to myself hmmmmm...maybe I should look at the links Darnell so patiently posted. Which I have, and called the AVR, although I really didn't expect them to have our file yet, but just to get my feet wet. And no, if I don't have to wait on the post office I would rather not.

Thanks for all your info.
