Medical results expiration?

How long are the medical exam results good for? We thought it was one year. Just now we have "heard" that it's 6 months. We're past 6 months, we're a bit over 10 months since the medical exam, and planning to bring her over here within a couple weeks.

Bel is very discouraged because of what a huge hassle the medical was for her particularly. Psych referral due to a tiny little wrist scar from childhood, had to do the physical exam twice because they handled everything poorly. On the final day at St Lukes she was there until almost 11pm. And I was quite nervous at the hotel waiting for her that late with no cell phone allowed in the clinic! (almost went out and got a taxi alone to go find her)

I hope we don't have to repeat this. I found a link to the embassy site which says "generally valid for 6 months". The use of the world "generally" possibly indicates that it could be good for more than that in some circumstances.

She has not been contacted by the embassy about it. What would have happen if I had gone ahead and brought her here without knowing about this 6 month limit?

Medical results, in the context of visa application, is good for 6 months. What that means is the visa has to be processed and approved while the medical results are valid. If you attempt to apply for the visa after the medical results have expired, the Embassy will not process the application...she would have to repeat the medical exam.

When she has the visa in hand and the medical exam results are over 6 months old, it doesn't matter. She has the visa.

In terms of Adjustment of Status (AOS), the medical exam results are good up to 1 year.

When she does get to the US apply for AOS ASAP as she will have to have a complete medical by a USCIS Civil surgeon if it's over 1 year when she applies for AOS. Cost a LOT more than having the CS just fill out the I-693.

A little late but when my wife did St. Lukes you could take CPs inside. I talked with her the entire time. Maybe that's changed.

Hey, thanks a lot folks. Very helpful and relieving!

:)

Regarding the cell phone, she just reminded me that indeed she did have her cell phone but the battery had run out since we had been texting each other all day.

Hi, they say your visa expires same date of medical result expiration. My medical expires Nov 18th, does that mean the visa expiration date printed in my passport is also Nov 18th? They haven't delivered my passport yet but someone from the embassy called and asked if I'm leaving the country before the 18th or not. If yes, they will deliver the visa asap, if not, I will redo my medical exam. I am confused, pls advise.

In Gizelle case the visa expires 6 months from the date SLEC stamped in her passport on the first day of medical, not at the completion of her medical 3 weeks later. Always assumed the 6 months was from completion of medical.

Technically the last day of medical results would be 6 months, but anything done before that would be over, so that's why the VISA would be dated by the first starting day...

I don't remember anything being stamped in the passport by SLEC, a medical facility is allowed to stamp in a immigration passport? My passport is currently at the Embassy, so can't check it.

Quite simple. The visa WILL expire on the 18th, if you can not be in the USA by then you need to complete a new medical. Can you travel quickly or not?
