Does your income (line 22 of your most recent 1040 tax return) satisfy the requirement? If so, then you do not need to include any assets. If you do need to include assets you should follow the instructions on page 8 of the I-864 instructions regarding valuation.

Using business inventory may not be accepted if the adjudicating officer sees this (liquidating inventory) as a considerable hardship.

Just resubmit without the assets.

Do you have an inventory list, or paid invoices you could use to show the value of the assets?

YES it does meet the requirment, i also had two co-sponsers so everything else went fine but this thing. what can i do now?

For some reason, I didn't see this post when I replied. I would just re-file without assets.

ok i called nvc about the matter twoice and i got two diffrent answers . 1st one said just write down on the checklist that u r not going to use the assets anymore and send the checklist back because the assets i putted is for the merchandise which can not have a same value everyday. ok now 2nd person she said about the samething but she said i have to fill out a new i864 without the assets, but there might be a concern taking out whole $42000. so umm i am kinda confuse here, now dont know what to do just send a new i864 without assets since the assets are the optional. or should i send them some of the invoices that i have?

Posted (edited)

what should i tell them now if i dont put the assets in there . do i need to write them a letter along with the form or just send the form without any reason and leave the assets area blank . :help:

To me it looks a bit strange you can't prove what your assets are worth. Especially if it's inventory. I'd stick with trying to prove what they are worth. The original I-864 is still going to be in their hands.

By the way. You can't have 2 cosponsors. Why would you use a co sponsor if you meet the income requirement?

Hopefully you have 3 yaers of tax transcripts from IRS showing your self employment income.

the question of "ownership" has not been addressed. are you a "sole proprietor" with total control over the store and it's assets? can you show ownership of the assets is free and clear of encumbrances? you would need an accountant's report to show actual value of inventory and that it is paid for. then you would need to demonstrate that liquidation would not impair your income (kinda hard to rationalise that).
