Immigration attorney recommendation?

I would like to know if someone has a recommendation for an immigration attorney. I am looking for an affordable attorney I would appreciate your recommendation.

Little about my case:

My husband file for divorce made an appointment with immigration and let them know we were getting divorce. I received a letter stating that I needed to return my GC but I didn't know about the letter until couple of months after. We bought a house about 2 years ago and now that he want to get divorce he wants me out of the house and I don't have enought money to do the move right now. Thanks for your help.

I am anti immigration lawyers!!! I PERSONALLY dont think they do for you anything that you cant do for yourself esp with the suppport of VJers..& I have heard too many horror stories

However I if you do fell a need for them you have to inform us of your state and city

If you have little money you can check with Catholic Charities or the International Institute in your area. They can connect you with immigration lawyers. Good luck.

I understand that sometimes lawyers can be very expensive and most of the things I can do myself but in my case I think I have to seek for their recommendation. When my husband filed for divorce he also made an appoinment with immigration to let them know that we were getting divorce and show them the filed divorce papers (according to him) Not only did he do that he also hide a letter form immigration in which they were asking for me to return my GC. It has been 9 months now since my temporary GC expired. He first told me that we had withdrawn the divorce which I found out he never did. Now I don't know where to take it from here....Any recommendations?

In this situation, your feelings do not bear any weight for the OP and advising against a lawyer is wrong. The OP needs a very qualified lawyer to get her status back.

I appreciate that people wish to help but please be sure you are considering the facts in the situation when offering your comments. What is important here is the OPs circumstances. Sometimes seeking a legal consultation is the intelligent thing to do.

For most straight-forward and uncomplicated immigration issues a lawyer isn't necessary. The OPs situation, however, is neither straight-forward nor uncomplicated. The OP is being sensible in seeking legal advice for a situation that is fraught with difficulties. This is a good example of when seeking a lawyer is a good idea, and not an unnecessary expense. There is nothing 'run of the mill' about the situation the OP has described.

Maybe someone misunderstood I didnt mean to impose my feelings on her or sway her one way or the other.

I made it clear that I didnt agree but if she was in my state I was going to give her some names of lawyers that I heard heard about!!!

The ultimate choice is hers!!!

Most lawyers will never tell you when your case has no little hope for success. They simply take your money then when you get a denial they tell you there wasnt much to go by anyway. I have been to info pass appointments that were more informative that $150 consultations with lawyers.

A lot of the waiver filers here can give her advice about nasty and spiteful divorces and what to do to guard against the reparcations they have on immi status....

SHE IS AN ADULT HERE FOR ADVICE THE FINAL CHOICE IS HERS!!!
