Sofia you're absolutely correct.

But those numbers work 2 ways, if only a small percentage of Muslims "are involved" in participating or supporting the attack on this country..... we are talking about Millions and millions of Muslims and the funds they can muster and the positions they might be in to further their cause.

I on occasion wonder where will we be 20 years down the road, will this thing peter out or will it pick up even more steam, more supporters, more dedicated to this cause?

Hard to know the answer.

Look to the Crusades and the Spanish Inquisition for the damage that a few million zealots can do and the results they wrought. We are still dealing with their mess. Yes, this is likely to grow and spread as more westerners declare themselves to be enemies of evil Islam. Even "good" Muslims will defend themselves.

I'm sure I didn't use the term "all of" as a qualifier, Bishop. Apparently, it's the Zionist evangelicals who are doing the cherry picking, not me. I was married to a good Maronite man until the day he died. I know that belief and emphasis varies between sects.

Dearest Soffiya, you are correct. I knew once I posted that post that you had not said "all" so I should be more careful since apparently VJ works in a 'he said/she said' semantics type of environment...instead of the 'truth of meaning'...yet in my simple mind your post did imply that 'all' Christianity subscribed to this view (at least in my view, you implied it) which is not true and that is what I sought to correct.

However, if you do know that belief varies betweens sects then please don't lead the sheep to any specific belief in Christianity which is specific to only certain sects. that is a misrepresentation of the faith. I often hear you say this about Muslims (don't peanut butter us) and the same must be said of Christianity.

Its a simple common courtesy which I think you, of all people, can respect.

Blessings! Assalam Alaikom!

I do my best, dear sir, but there are far too many Christian sects for me to keep track of. I do know that there is only one Message and far too many interpretations of it all around, but none that legitimately encourage unprovoked violence. Not in Christianity, not in Islam. That, we can agree on.

How can this be prevented? All I know is 'love' and as much education as possible as the tools to ending this seemingly perpetual cycle. Soffiya, what would be your suggestion? I realize it might be impossible to frame on this Bulletin Board...but...it certainly is in our human best-interest to stop this now. I know that I personally have what seems at times like an never-ending mountain to climb just to bring spritual information to my own closest circles. I realize that you started a thread a couple weeks ago just to discuss honestly the Islamic religion and I applaud you for this. Whats else?

Sorry to leave you hanging, but we will have to explore this question later. I've reached my destination and will be spending the rest of the evening with family and friends at a post Iftar gathering. Have a wonderful and peaceful night.

Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

We are now in the 21st century.

Soffiya's references to the Crusades and the Spanish Inquistion are both 'tired' to say the least and offer no type of formative solution.

Your implication that the people of the 21st century are somehow different than the people of the prior centuries is also 'tired' and offers no type of solution.

This type of conversation is equivalent to playground finger pointing. The only thing that tries to make it a 'big people' conversation' is that it is often decorated with 'google links' or randomly quoted verses from the Holy Books.

Personally, I doubt that either of you are really interested in the 'topic' but are more interested in a debate about who is more 'educated'.

However, I would say that I would vote for Soffiya because her Avatar is much more gorgeouser than yours :star:

Of course, blessings!

I would think the meaning my post in reference to the times(dates) of the last Crusade and Spanish Inquisition would be obvious to anyone... especially someone posting about "big people conversations". Then again seeing how this is a avatar popularity contest with you...uh ya.

If you really want a clue as to what's going on in regards to extremist religious factions just take a look at BBC and/or Reuters. You can start with the stoning of women in Iran in the present century and read further on about western journalist who dared spoke out publicly against extremist Muslims now needing protection from said crazies.

Not all of us "guess" at the news, we actually take time to read it.

Come now Bishop, it's long past the time you put silly bumper sticker logic away.

If "Love and education" were the answers to peace, the most educated countries would have a history of peace.

I suppose if I myself were to resort to "Bumper-sticker" logic I might say : it's Cheaper to build strong fences than strong armies.

Brother Danno - I'll stick to what you call Bumper Sticker Logic (though I did find that term funny +1). In reality though, everything else we've tried has failed. Its really the only thing that we can rezort toward...

Good points...but not interested in 'extremists'. However, they do occupy the news which is where it seems that you spend your time. After all, I'm not a man of this world, I haz a Bizhop....you know, it came with the Cloth! :innocent: TVz is for foolz!

You do have to admit that Soffiya's avatar is quite gazeabel tho...don'tcha? :star:
