Entering US on K1...Is ESTA needed???

I know ESTA is needed for travellers to the US...I am pretty sure it's for people on the Visa Waiver Program staying less than 90 days...however just so Im sure can someone please clarify?

Jan 10th 2009 - Met whilst I was working in the US on a J1 Visa
July 31st 2009 - I had to leave the US (visa expired and no jobs)
Sep 5th 2009 - I returned to the US to visit for 2 months

Dec 30th 2009 - He came to England to visit me for 10 days
Dec 31st 2009 - Engaged!!! He proposed in London at midnight
Jan 2010 - Sent I-129f application

Feb 12th 2010 - received NOA1

March - I visited for 2 weeks
May 4th 2010 - received NOA2

June - I visited for 2 weeks

16th July - Medical
26th July 2010! - Interview at US Embassy in London
12th August 2010 - Received K1 VISA smile.png
26th AUGUST 2010 - Enter US!!! POE ATLANTA
30th OCTOBER 2010 - Our Wedding - such a perfect day smile.png

EAD
8th November 2010 - Biometrics
27th January 2011 - EAD Received in the mail smile.png

AOS
8th November 2010 - Biometrics
3rd March 2011 - AOS Interview

Applied for removal of conditional permanent resident status

no, not needed for ppl coming in on a K-1 visa.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I assume so! As far as I am aware its just for visitors, anyone on a visa waiver program astaying for 90 days or less.

Just want to note that although ESTA is totally, completely not needed, some officials at some borders are clueless about this, so be prepared and don't freak out if you run into some misinformation. Mr. Owl, K1 in hand, was detained in London because the mental giants there insisted he needed it. He isn't eligible for ESTA and they wanted to turn him away. Know your business so you can navigate the potential hazards without getting nervous.

You would receive a I-94 on plane I presume as we do from Australia and I have been to the states 2 times now and have done the esta and even though you need it more now for 90 day visits as it is compulsory here now to have one with, I have never been asked for it through customs in LA, they just take the green 94 tear it off and tape it in passport.

Just my experience to share.

Just to clarify. You, barbarajlw, will not use ESTA or visa waiver when you enter the US on your K1 visa to stay. You used it before and got the I-94W (green) on the plane because you didn't have a visa. Next time you come, you don't need a visa waiver because you will have a visa. You will get an I-94 (white) next time.

Thanks for that Nich I was freaking out a little there as I was sure I did not need one with my k1 . sorry i keep getting mixed up with the I-94 and the I-94W.
