That's sorta, kinda 'it' .

File the I-130 petition - and when that's approved -

the foreign spouse is allowed to file for a CR-1 visa via the DS-230 form, sent off to NVC.

There's more to NVC processing than just the DS-230, but

if yer fast, you can wrangle all at NVC within 2 months.

Suggest you re-read all links here, then re-factor your plan, today, before shipping anything out to the Chicago Lockbox. Take into especial consideration the one link I showed you, concerning expedite .

Reading is Important™.

When I first started this process, I got me some big mondo greenbar computer paper, and mapped it all out on that, using Green Crayon™. Then I did that about 4 times again, in those first 2 months, refactoring my new-found knowledge into 'the plan'.

Then I made 3 sets of this greenbar paper 'plan' , still utilizing green crayon™.

One is on the wall, one is in my portfolio, one is in 'the files'.

I like this map, really, as I can show it my elder relatives - it's written in terms they understand.

HEY ! Welcome to VJ ! This is a great DIY portal for Immigration to USA, with an emphasis on 'D' and 'Y'.

You really did a map? I so enjoy reading your posts!

i recently married my childhood friend, she resides in pakistan and im a us citizen

we got married in karachi pakistan. and im trying to figure out the quickest way to get her into the usa

can someone please help me?

she is pregnant and i want her to deliver the baby in usa not in pakistan.

so far i have filled out the i-130 and have all the documents needed

i was wondering if i can submit the k3 forms along with i-130 or do i need to wait for it to get approved.

also i have a criminal record, misdemeanor first offense, will that affect my application or the wait time?

im just trying to figure out whether to stay here or leave the country to go back to my wife.

thanks again

btw i apologize if im posting in the wrong place

im new to all this and its very confusing

I personally know 3 people (from europe, where is much easier to get visa) whose husbands were us citizens, all three were pregnant and all three didn't get visa earlier because of their pregnancy. One had a luck to have a baby here because she was on the start of her pregnancy when they started a process, which took 6 mos and she was in US. the other two, finished within 8 mos and had a baby home. They really don't care about pregnancies...read here how many people is separated still from their 2 yrs olds...so...there's no fastest way.it all takes about 6-9 mos if you're lucky one!

I know a lot of people not gonna agree with me but i suggest that you file 129f for k3, it's gonna speed up the process for your I130. your I130 gonna be approved along with your I-129F , trust me there is two cases i know got lucky in doing this. It's not gonna cost you anything. when uscis will approve your case, they will send both I-130 and I-129f which they gonna close .and that's good as long as they gonna process the I-130 , GOOD LUCK

What? That makes absolutely no sense.

OP, you've been given some good advice here. I would say that you should be prepared that she will probably deliver the baby in Pakistan (congratulations, by the way!) Unfortunately, many people from Middle East/North Africa region end up in extra processing after the interview stage.

Check out the regional forum for MENA (Middle East/North Africa) for more information on this:

The DS-230 is only submitted at NVC.

Expedites are only considered in dire situations such as extreme medical situations or imminent military deployment. Your expedite will do you no good

I don't agree with you, basically because you're misleading the OP, since K-3s are administratively closed.

my memory is not great about this topic but it seems like someone posted with a wife in Pakistan maybe a year or so ago that got expedite because of the violence in Pakistan it might be she was in an area that was considered more dangerous than other parts im not sure about that point.

Well I've slept a bit, so hopefully someone else has answered this post, but -

--DS-230 is submitted to NVC, not to USCIS, later.

--submit only copies of marriage certificate - do not submit originals. if YOU have prior divorce, submit photocopy (showing the seal or stamp) of YOUR divorce decree.

--cover letter - there are examples here - find them - is good exercise for using the search tool

--expedite - reread my stuff about expedite. Seriously. it's a link - CLICK the link, read it.

Hi Adam2 - I'm sad to disagree with you, but it is what it is -

I totally disagree with you. The two cases you 'know about' were fast because , in each case, was the 2nd filing, no lag on namechecks at USCIS.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Bad advice. Well-intentioned, but really bad advice nonetheless.

Look at the K-3 processing dates, and see for yourself.

http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/monthly_filers.php?visa=2&form=1&scenter=1&option=3&sortby=2

Then look at I-130 processing dates for IR-1/CR-1. Without K-3, I-130 gets processed much MUCH faster.

Bottomline, do NOT send in the I-129F :bonk:

Ok if going back is your option then you can do the DCF process. You can go there live with her and file what they 'Direct Consular Filing', Once all done you can come here with here. With the criminal record, wait times, options to expedite due to her health condition and DCF, i would recommend you spend a few $$$ and get yourself a lawyer for initial consult. What state are you in ? Send me an email directly and I can recommend someone I worked with a while back.

i made a cover letter requesting a cr-1 visa for my wife

im submitting an i-130 along with g325 for both and check for $355

i also got a copy of the marriage certificate in english along with copies of my us passport

once i submit this and its approved.....the ds 230 will be mailed to me by nvc or i have to go grab it somewhere?
