A number of us in and around Atlanta, GA have met a few times in the past and would like to hold another get together for anyone who is interested. Last time we met north of Atlanta in a State Park, so we thought this time it would be appropriate to meet south of Atlanta- although not too far south :) .

There are 6 of us so far who have agreed to meet on Saturday, September 18th from 12 to 3 for a pot-luck type of lunch. The 12-3 is kind of determined by our meeting site - a very unique and wonderful site called "Noah's Ark" in Locust Grove, GA, just off of I-75 about 30 miles south of Atlanta. http://www.noahs-ark.org/ . The site is home to many abused and rescued animals - lions, tigers, bears, llamas, primates, etc. - that have been given forever homes after being rescued from travelling zoos, circuses, an private owners who did not look after them. They are set up in environments in a natural setting that is open to the public for visiting. They also offer a children's home for abused children who learn how to care and nurture others by helping with the animals. The site is open by donation only and there is a lovely picnic area available right by the main entrance. The site is only open from 12 to 3 but that would be time for lunch and for pleasant strolling and visiting with each other. Tanger's Outlet Mall is right up the road from there so if anyone wanted to they could combine the lunch with a shopping visit.

The caveat is that the site may not be open if the weather is bad, so the fall back plan if it is raining is to meet at Ryan's Restaurant in Stockbridge which is accessible at the Highway 138 exit off of I-75. http://hosted.where2...fets/ryans.html

(first entry). The food is buffet style, very reasonable and a nice environment.

If you are interested, list your name here and we can get a count. It is going to be very informal but just a nice time to get to meet one another in pleasant surroundings.

So far there is one Russian/American couple; one Ukrainian/American couple and my husband and me - a Canadian/American couple.

That would be great! Noah's Ark is such a terrific place for kids as well, a very family friendly venue. :)

Hi Everyone,

I would like to attend....But.....

I'm not in the Atlanta/Georgia area, and I'm currently too far away to go there....

So I can't meet with you all in-person (but I'll be there in thought)....

Nevertheless, I would like to wish you all the best in your future meet-up there in GA...:)

The state park and restaurant sound like a great idea....Have fun!

And yes, do post a review about your meetup! Looking forward to reading about that on VJ!

You don't need to be a big talker - I know there will be enough chatting going on by others for those who are more interested in sitting and listening. :yes: . I hope you can make it - it would be great if you can join us :) .
