Yay! We also got an interview date yesterday for September 29th.

Only problem is....I was reading the other couple (I cant remember what their name is) who's scheduled for the 29th and their dilemma with the medical. My husband and I will be returning from Paris (for a friends wedding) on the 23rd. Its kind of tight in regards to flying out to Montreal and scheduling a medical for my husband. So much to consider.

Are their more than 1 doctor to do the medicals? Any suggestions?

Woohoo!

As per a previous post: There are only 4 panel physicians in Canada: Woking in Vancouver, Seiden in Toronto, Seiden and Medisys in Montreal.

I dont' know if this exists, I did a search and didn't see anything, but I'm awful with searches in forums.

I have a favor/question.

Does anyone have the checklist ???

By that I mean everything you need for getting the visa??

I know it's RCMP

Medical

Vaccinations

Affidavit of Suppor/proof of assets (are bank records and brokerage accounts enough or is there something special as we are using assets only at this time)

Proof of established residence (if they don't take my lease, telephone, electric and gas bill plus proof that I own a business there we hae a problem)

translation of documents like birth certificate/divorce. What is a long form. His birth certificate has his date of birth, his parents name, plus I had his baptism certificate translated too so he has a birth certificate with his name, date of birth etc parents listed and his original baptism and his divorce traslated (cost $820)

Proof of ongoing marriage, I am going to assume that a joint checking account statement from the bank is ok. I can bring a will that says he leaves everything to me, and I leave everything to him. Those are recent wills, being signed this week.

I can also produce that he has the electric bill on his name and I have the phone bill in my name at the same address plus that I am the pricipal driver of one of his cars as he owns both our cars.

prior 3 years of tax returns for me. (0 income but just filed them to be safe that they exist)

What am I missing? Please help.

Sorry if i'm late to the game on this one, but this doesn't match the checklist my husband and I have.

The checklist we have doesn't have anything about vaccinations or the medical examination. I do know my husband will need to get the medical exam after our interview is scheduled but it's not on the checklist. Also, our checklist asks for 5 50mm x 50mm photos.

Have different people received different checklists? Is there any reason for it or cause for concern?

You will receive notification to have your medical done when you receive your interview letter I believe. Our checklist didn't say anything about it either. I can't remember what the photo specs were but follow whatever information you receive from Montreal - if in doubt do what they say and bring a copy of their letter along as proof that is what they requested.

If you go back in this post a little ways you will find the checklist - I can't remember what page it is on anymore though, sorry.

50x50cm converts to roughly 2"x2", which is the American 'passport-sized' photograph. You will need 5 all together for the end of the process - 3 for the medical, 2 for the interview.

The checklist doesn't mention the medical, however it is mentioned on the instruction sheet I received from the consulate: "When your case has been scheduled for an interview, the IV unit will send information regarding the interview appointment and the required medical examination."

You can find information about the required (and age-appropriate) vaccinations here: Panel Physicians

Just to correct myself because I can't seem to find the edit button, I do know the medical exam is before the interview. I meant to say that my husband needs to get it after the interview has been scheduled.

I have a question on the medical exam. Am I correct in thinking I only need these 3 (I'm 28)?

27-49 YEARS

Tdap (Adacel)

MMR Measles, Mumps, Rubella. ("MR" and "MM" are not enough)

Varicella - If you had "Chicken Pox" disease, no vaccine is needed

I don't have my vaccination history so will have to get a blood test for MMR (or a new vaccination). Can I just do this at a normal doctors office? I have to do this before I book my medical appt. apparently.

I had all of my titre tests done by my family MD, took copies of the lab reports to the medical and had no issues at all. Good luck!

Thanks. I booked the vaccines I needed today for this week, and will book the actual medical tomorrow, hopefully for next week.

My only concern is I don't have my medical history - the only operation I have ever had was to have my tonsils out back in 1988. I can't get a record of this (from the NHS in England) as they don't keep medical history between the ages of 1-17 past your 25th birthday unless it will affect your adult health. I'm hoping they don't consider this a "major operation".

Come on, Montreal.

Birdnerd what are we going to do, when you go for your interview and get your visa... and the rest of us are still waiting and needing answers to our questions?

I called DOS today and they told me I am eligible but no date has been set; is this just a way of making us feel better but not really giving us any information?
