PO Box anxiety

Hi all you knowledgeable folks of VJ,

I am in the process of filling out the I-485 and i have a little concern over addresses..

I remember at my K1 interview the officer asked if the address on my forms was the address i wanted my green card sending to, that address was for my now wife's parents house...

We have now moved into our own place, but we have no post box and so had to get a post office box..

I'm not sure how to approach this on the form.. If i put the po box address they might think i live in a post office.. :-)

Any ideas?

We were in the exact same situation, and here's how we approached it. On all of the address boxes, we filled in BOTH the physical address and the PO Box (unless it asked specifically for "physical address" or "mailing address" for that item). In our cover letter, we wrote that we did not have the ability to receive secure mail at our home, and could all correspondence be directed to our PO Box. This seems to have worked, as all our USCIS letters have been delivered to the PO Box. HOWEVER, please note that if you haven't yet gotten the SS card, they will NOT deliver it to a PO Box - to physical address only.

On the I-485, I765 or the I 131 it doesnt give the option for a postal address as well as the for the physical.

so just to clarify did you put both address's into the same box of the forms?

My main concern was that section 5 of the I-485, where it mentions changing of address, it doesnt really make it clear if they want the physical or postal address.

I am going to include in the cover letter that our physical address is different from our postal address.. and i have also completed the online change of address, where i used the postal address and not the physical address.. So i hope thats the right one ?

I've had my Social security number for a few years so that's not a problem..

Yep, that's what I mean. We filled out all of the forms by computer except the address parts, where we put BOTH addresses in the box. I think we crossed out the "apt #" and just wrote "PO Box ####" in that part. It sounds like you're on the right track. Good luck!
