Hi I don't have the exact dates right now, but my wife had her citizenship interview on July 9th in Chicago. She passed the interview and was told that the next court date in her county was on Sept 24th. She hasn't received her interview letter yet, however we had some friends who had their interview on the same date, same place and they received their interview letter. just wondering if it's a good idea to show up at the courthouse on the off chance that the letter has been mailed but won't reach us on time? Called USCIS and the automated hotline says that the latest status is that the case has been transferred to the local USCIS office ...

Do you mean the Oath letter? Please correct me If I understand it wrong, You mentioned your wife had her interview July 9 and you are still waiitng for the interview letter? If she already had her interview then I dont see why she would wait for an interview letter not unless she needed a 2nd interview.

I am sure that's what he meant.

What I recommend is to call again and see if you can speak with the IO and see if they can make sure if you are on their list. Showing up at the court house without a letter will probably get you denied to access the building.

The reason your wife didn't get hers yet maybe because they're not done with the background check or she wasnt cleared by FBI check or something. Sometimes it takes time for them to submit the background clear check even if she already got cleared. Just hang in there!

Folks,

Completed my interview at Norfolk today. Hardly took 10 - 15 min or so. Very good experience. At the end of the interview, the officer gave me a letter for oath ceremony on 13th Oct. Thanks for everyone's support and good luck to all of you waiting to complete the process!! No documentation other than PP, GC and Driver's license was asked. I had an update to my employment which the officer copied over to the application form (the original I had sent with my N-400).

OK, so I have yet to receive a biometrics notice. I found out this week after calling the 1800 number that they are using my fingerprints from I-751 and that I have to wait for my interview to be scheduled! Finally some news. Oh and to update my time line, my check was cashed on 8/4/2010.

Woohoo... :dance:....at last somebody is looking into my file. I received the yellow pre-interview letter yesterday, telling me I Should bring my drivers license with me on the interview. No problem... have that with me all the time anyway. Any idea how long it takes from here to get the white interview letter?

It took about 5 days for me to receive the white interview letter after the yellow letter.

05/18/09 - Received I-751 Receipt Notice

05/30/09 - Received Biometric appointment for 06/08 (dated 05/22)

06/08/09 - Completed biometrics. Still unable to access case status online. Now the real wait begins!

06/09/09 - Finally case status showed up online!. Touched today

09/21/09 - Approved (Letter from USCIS Vermont, dated 09/16/09)

09/23/09 - Card production ordered

09/30/09 - Card received!. USCIS done until citizenship!

05/21/10 - Mailed N-400

05/24/10 - N-400 received at Dallas, TX Lockbox

06/01/10 - Check cashed

06/04/10 - Received N-400 receipt notice (NOA dated 05/27)

06/29/10 - Placed service request for not receiving biometrics. Transferred to immigration officer, who confirmed that the Biometrics

letter has been generated and I would be receiving it shortly.

07/01/10 - Email and SMS case update stating that the Biometrics letter has been sent on June 29'th 2010.

07/06/10 - Received Biometric appointment for 07/23 (dated 06/30)- DONE

08/02/10 - Received yellow letter reminding me to bring my state ID (dated 07/28)

08/05/10 - Case touched. Email and SMS case update stating that the case has been transferred to the local office for interview.

08/06/10 - Case touched

08/06/10 - Received interview appointment for 09/10 at 9:20AM in Philadelphia, PA

08/07/10 - Case touched

08/10/10 - Case touched

09/10/10 - Interview completed and recommended for approval

09/17/10 - Oath ceremony scheduled for Sep 29!.

09/29/10 - Oath completed. US citizen as of today. Journey complete!.

I received the schedule for my interview and the white letter together but didn't get any yellow letter prior to that. Is that normal? My interview is 3 weeks from now. Thanks

Yes, that's normal. The yellow letter only indicates that you need to provide some additional information on the day of the interview (in my case I have to bring my drivers license with me). When there is no need for additional information, you get the white letter immediately. So, you're good. Good luck on the interview.
