Not sure on the first part- I would think it makes you effectively in-elligible to petition for partner until 18 years old (well, you could start when 17 at the I-864 isn't filed till NVC stage).

You have two options if you don't make enough money: get a co-sponsor, such as your father or another family member/ friend, or sponsor on assets (in the later case, you need three times as much assets as yearly income).

Instructions state you have to be 18 to sign it, since it is an enforceable contract.

People under 18 in the US cannot be held to a contract.

Very interesting - I didn't see this type of situation before.

Perhaps a lawyer can help you, but from my read of the law, you may have to wait till you 18 to do this.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

I'm 16 and married and the law says you must be 18years old to sign the Affidavit of Support,But could my father sign the form for me?Also what if I met the yearly income, and if not what about when I'm 17?Please respond A.S.A.P,Thanks.

You posted in the K3 forum that you are engaged, not married. Which is it? If married, where did the legal marriage occur?
