preparing ds230 and 3032 ahead of time.. do you let the beneficiary sign AND put current date ahead of time

hello, still waiting for NOA2 of my I-130. been reading a lot of VJ in the meantime.. thanks to VJ members by the way. anyway, i always see the advice to prepare the 230 and 3032 in advance.

question is, (might be silly).. do you let the beneficiary sign the forms and put the DATE already? don't we need to wait for the NVC to send us the packet and then fill it out or i guess they are aware that we can download these forms ahead of time.

alternatively, should i just let her sign it so she can mail it now, then i'll just put the date when i am at the NVC stage?

thanks

Yes. You'll need to write the new NVC issued case number at the top before mailing to NVC as well.

Yes. You'll need to write the new NVC issued case number at the top before mailing to NVC as well.

Is that necessary, or recommended? I don't see any designated place for writing the NVC case number.

I've been searching this site for a question as not to repaeat a previous thread, so I will ask it here. Is it easier to name myself as the choice of agent? Basically it boils down to where the packets are sent, correct? If I receive them, I can make sure everything is filled out corerectly prior to sending them to NVC. Just means extra mailinig fees from my wife to sign and send the forms back, except for the forms she needs to take to her interview...or am I missing the point completely?

There is no designated place to write it. You should write your NVC case number on the top right corner of every document you have. That is what I did on all our documents. This way if they get mixed up or something, they can find it back easily.

i think it will be easier to name yourself as the agent in terms of making sure about the info on the forms. but i also think it will be faster if the agent is in the US in terms of logistics. it takes time to correspond with NVC via mail.

i think this is the basis of why everyone else is advising to prepare all these forms ahead of time.

thanks for the short, sweet reply.

after taking a deep breath, and trying not to overthink.... best way is to have her sign now leave the dates blank. mail the forms to me. then put the dates in, as well as the barcodes when we're at the nvc stage.

Yes, but just the case number is fine. No need to use the bar codes. That's WHY is said to write the case number. Every page is a great idea if you want to go to the trouble but it's up to you.

Okay I'm confused here. I thought the DS forms 230 & 3032 were filled out by the beneficiary and taken with them to their interview along with the Police Report, Marriage certificate and the other documents as defined in LingChe's NVC shortcut. Those of us in the US complete the form I-824, Tax statements and the other documents AOS package.

From what I have read above its sounding like the Petitioner should get all of these documents together and submit them to the NVC. Are we speaking of Originals also which would mean they need to be mail to us by our significant other from their home land.

Can someone clarify this for me please that has been through the process.:help:

Thanks :)

You will send DS-230 and DS-3032 to the NVC. You should bring the extra copies of all the packets you sent to the USCIS and NVC for the interview. Also the Petitioner fills out the I-864 form for the AOS package.

You will have to submit original or certified copies for the DS-230 package which is the biographic data, marriage certificate, PCC, and other things. You can send them original of those if you want and they will give you back all of them during the interview.

Goodluck and I hope that helped

Okay Got it. I re read it and see where it states in Pre NVC/Preparing doc's that I should have things in my hand prior to approval of NVC. Damn :bonk:

It states in Step 6 Send DS 3032, that you can email the DS3032. Are scanned copies of originals sent via email acceptable? In step 10 is where all Sponsors info which I have already is sent so thats no big deal. In step 11 b it calls for the Original of certified copies of the Benificiary's be sent by the Petitioner. So these can not be copies of originals as allowed in Step 6. This is where I got confused and though the originals could be presented at the interview for verification.

Well I still have time to get these docs in my hands provided the pony mail doesnt take months and doesnt get lost...

Thanks again I will start to monitor the NVC thread...

DS-3032 can be sent by the beneficiary through email. The beneficiary just have to follow the DS-3032 template which can be found on this website.

You cannot send copies of original for the DS-230 package. It has to be original or certified which is same as the original except you can only get that from the place where they issued the original. Hope that made sense, haha. Even if you send the original with the DS-230 package, you can get them back at the interview.

I know it all seems confusing and I was confused myself. I read the guides so many times and read so many threads, but we all are here for eachother so don't worry

So the originals aren't required until the AOS process. I read through the guide, and it made sense, until I started thinking about it. Guess I need to not think.
