That particular item is actually not radically off the mark.

** sapiens diverged as a distinct species approximately 250,000 years ago. The human gene pool today is relatively homogeneous (e.g. humans from all parts of the world are more similar to each other than other widespread mammalian species typically are). This suggests that the human population was quite small and compact until relatively recently (10s of thousands of years) before diffusing geographically. Given sufficient time, a geographically separated population of any species will eventually mutate enough for speciation (that is, each separate gene pool would become sufficiently distinct to prevent interbreeding) to occur. How many generations would be needed for distinct speciation? That depends upon the original species and the rate of natural mutations and natural selection based upon the different the new environment was from the old.

In short, would an additional 40,000 years be enough time for Australian aboriginals cut off from the rest of humankind to become a distinct species? Perhaps. Probably it would need much longer than that. But the point that it would eventually happen had it not been for human recolonization of Australia is true enough.

as for scandal's comment, it appears that he fails to understand the differences between the distinct subspecies of ** sapiens. most of us in this discussion can claim to be ** sapiens sapiens, which was first identified as Cro Magnon Man, and left africa about 50K years ago. some CMM moved into europe, and from there into russia, then china/korea/japan, then the Americas. some CMM moved directly eastward and spawned all south asian peoples, including aussie abos and polynesians, etc.

others in this discussion appear to be remnantts of a species that inhabited supra-saharan climes earlier than CMM, and is usually described as Neanderthal. neander left africa about 80K to 100K years ago, and occupied the mid east, asia minor, and europe until the coming of CMM. it is unclear why neander dissapeared around the time of the appearance of CMM, but it is widely assumed that CMM hunted neander into extinction, perhaps in a ritualistic manner that focused on the differences between them.

we must assume that certain other ** sapiens groups left africa prior to neander. little evidence is left of them. florensis appears to be sapiens, marginally, and could be representative of one such group.

That is interesting, if true. There is a theory held by some academics that the Hindu ritual of breaking open a coconut and spilling its milk on top of a lingam (stone representation of a large #######) is a throwback from some day in the past when that coconut was actually the head of a "lesser man" and the milk was the blood coming out of his head. The lingam was still a lingam, the ridiculous size of the lingum statues being some kind of reference to the "lesser men" having smaller penises. Of course, many people deride that explanation as being the work of ivory tower academics with too much time on their hands.

Sh*tter you amaze me. You raise many arguments, too bad that they are the case for racial superiority (“superculture”) and have been proven to be false a long time ago. There is no difference genetically between the races. Let me repeat that, we are one species, genetically. All human beings are ** sapiens sapiens. There are no subspecies. All other ** sapiens including ** sapiens florensis (much smaller than modern man)and ** sapiens idaltu (much larger than modern man) never interbred with ** sapiens sapiens. Of course, that flies in the face of your arguments vis-a-vis "Amerinds," but you are entertaining, I'll give you that. Calling some of your detractors Neaderthals is cute.
