Hi All,

I wonder whether one of you might clarify something for me. My fiancee and I have just *flown* through our K-1 process thus far - 3 months from NOA1 and the packet of materials has already arrived to my fiancee in her home country. Now she fears we face a snag. Here's the skinny:

The Embassy requires that she furnish a police certificate of good conduct from every country in which she has resided for at least one year.

This includes the US, where she was a student for 2 years and held an OPT visa for another. In that time she lived in two cities. She fears that it may be difficult to collect this info, and as of now, I am unaware how to go about it. So my questions are:

1. Given that the I-129f petition involved a name and background check, is it necessary to provide police certificates from the US as well?

2. If so, how does one go about requesting/collecting such documents (is it a "country" police profile or something done on a city-by-city basis, etc)?

3. Has anyone else been through something similar who might offer additional advice?

Many thanks in advance,

AJ

They will do their own checks for time spent in the U.S.

No police clearance certificate necessary.

I spent four years there. Just make sure it's down in the forms.

Yep!

The instructions in packets 3 and 4 should specifically list which countries for which police certificates are either not available or not required. The United States will always be on that list. Every government agency that will handle your petition and visa application will have access to law enforcement databases in the US.
