time between mailing packet 3 and interview date (Montreal)

Hi,

I think I'm officially addicted to VJ. Now that I've mailed packet 3 to the Montreal consulate, I'd estimate that I spend about an hour on VJ reading other people's stories and obsessively checking timelines.

My question, which doesn't seem to be answered in the K-1 flowchart is this: how long does it take for the Montreal consulate to assign an interview date after packet 3 is received? I think I read that it takes about a month, but I'm not sure.

Also, if anyone has suggestions for how to stop being so obsessed and relax, I'd welcome them :D I'm trying to be zen and live in the moment, but it's basically impossible because I'm so excited!!

Im not sure on K-1, but on their automated phone robot it says it could take up to 5 months, I doubt it would take that long for a K visa though.

Invictus..

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll.

The time varies. Mine was about 4.5 months, some people only wait a month or 2. It will take about 2-3 weeks for Montreal to recieve and log your packet 3 info. Then it is just a matter of waiting for them to schedule. They seem to schedule them in batches every couple of months. You can call the Department of state 202-663-1225 to ask if your packet 3 has been logged (you will need your NVC case # for it will start with MTL) and then to check to see if you have been scheduled an interview. After the first month of waiting I called about once a week to see if I had been scheduled an interview

HAHA!! Same here, eventually after about 3 months of calling I gave up, and about 2 weeks later..WHAMMO interview email. Funny how obsessive compulsive we become over this immigration nonsense.

Well, as someone that's gotten theirs recently - I know that those who filed Packet 3 in January and February (for the most part) just received dates for May, but like everyone else said, it could be awhile, or it could not. They tend to do them in spurts, like a water hose tied up and then they just let it go.

Good luck, though! I hope you get one soon!

Interesting topic to say the least... When do you find out the interview date? And how much in advance? And how? Through P4?

We waited a month and a half for our interview date and it was scheduled for 2 months later.

Could have been worse, considering some people before me had waited much much longer.

May would be awesome! Our NOA 2 was so ahead of schedule that I'm hoping our paperwork got clumped in with the Nov/Dec filers, which seem to be getting April-May interview dates.

Also, if it's in May, it might overlap with my birthday...which would be nice, because I was planning on going to Montreal to celebrate the big 3-0 anyway!

Not to crush your hopes but it probably wont be May. As of right now they seem to be scheduling them every two months. ( that could increase or decrease - they did them in November/January/March). So if they stay on track the next ones will come in April ( mid). For your sake i hope they speed up and it comes sooner because I know how stressful waiting for Montreal can be. I wouldnt expect one before mid April.. and if happens you'll be surprised. (:
