Fedex delivered my wife's pictures today because NVCINQUIRY lost them. So I called to ask how long it will take to finish the case the operator said it will take 6 to 8 weeks to review and process the case. So does anybody know if it will take a month again to finish my case or could it be done faster. Any response will help thank you

Indian beneficiaries, I have a question:

Have all of you had your spouse's name added to the last page of the passport? Y'know the one with your parent's name, address etc?

Hi Sachi,

My wife changed her name after marriage so we applied for a new passport and added my name to the passport. We applied through tatkal service since I needed a copy of the new passport to apply for the I-130. We got it in less than a week.

If you havn't changed your name I am not sure how important this is. But if you are really worried about it then you can get it done well before your interview date.

Hi Sachi,

If you haven't changed your name I am not sure how important this is. But if you are really worried about it then you can get it done well before your interview date.

I've read a few reviews where the applicant has been questioned as to why the spouse's name is missing. However, it was a one-off question and they weren't hassled about it.

I hope it's no big issue.

I did call an agent today. They said it would take 20-25 days at the very earliest.

I'll make a few more calls tomorrow morning as well.

The thing is I have to submit my stuff to VFS next Monday, 04/26. They will require the original passport. So 27th is the earliest I could submit the application to have my husband's name added. Tatkal would cost Rs. 4500 and would take 10-12 days. However, that would be cutting it too short as well, I feel.

Uff, this last minute stressing is causing me some serious heartburn.

The passport will always show biographic information as it existed on the date the passport was issued. That is normal.

Assuming you have your passport with your maiden name, issued before your wedding, it would have the spouse section blank, as it should. (Unless you were married before, of course).

My wife has not changed her maiden name yet because she did not want to apply for a new passport and go through all that hassle. Also, I have heard it helps to not change your name when you go to the DMV to get a license.

If anyone asks us why she has not changed her name, we plan to say "She will change it when she takes up citizenship of the US after a few years. Until then we want to keep things simple."

Meh, I too didn't want to go through the hassle. There was already far too much paperwork to take care of.

My passport was issued when in 1997 when I was 10 years old and is valid till 2017. Saw no reason to get a new one.

I have retained my maiden name. His last name with my first name sounds strange. Hyphenated, it's too long to be viable. Plus, I kinda like my name. Hee hee. If it was a question of changing my FIRST name, I'd probably do it, but I do like my last name. Fetches me plenty of laughs in ze Amerikas.
