Hello all,

Hello all,

A "department" is a fundamental unit of the Executive branch of the federal government. Each department is headed by a cabinet level official (the Secretary of State, in the case of DoS), and may encompass dozens of federal agencies. The NVC is one such agency that falls under the jurisdiction of the Department of State. US Consulates and Embassies are also under the jurisdiction of DoS.

Thank you!

Okay, one more question...our documents was sent off from NVC (more than 2 weeks ago) to the Moscow Embassy and they still didn't get it. Whom should we call to get information about it? NVC or DOS?

Call DoS

Still getting my head around moving posts multiple times in this new format... :(

Moving from K1 Process forum to NVC forum (mistakenly via the Consulate and Embassy forum!) as the question can pertain to other visa classifications, and is about the NVC
