Hello,

I was just looking at the Consulate info here on VJ about the embassy in Kiev and noticed that it states in # 18 of "Other Forms" that the Biological father of my fiancee's child must be PRESENT at the interview for the fiancee visa.

Is this correct!?!?!

I thought all we needed was a signed and notarized letter from him in both English and Ukrainian stating that he was OK with his son immigrating permanently to the US? And also a photo copy of his passport.

Can someone who has been through this please answer my question. It will be impossible to get this guy to the embassy in Kiev!!

Thanks,

Steve

There is no requirement for him to be there. A letter is sufficient. The letter must be in English or accompanied with an English translation from whateverlanguage it is written. You must also have a copy of his passport (internal or international) photo and signature page.

The letter must state that he has no objection or agrees to the child being PERMANENTLY relocated to the UNITED STATES. I suggest you soecifically state the the letter is valid for the issuance of a visa and ALL FUTURE TRAVEL into and out of Ukraine. You will need this letter for all future travel until the child is 16 years old.

Yes, we went through this and still do (for one more year) with our 15 year old. It does no tmatter that they become US residents and have a green card, they need the letter until age 16 to leave Ukraine.
