Rent/property in the US

Hey VJers!

Just a quick question. My Fiance and I are getting married in the Ivory Coast (August 2010!!!!) and moving there for a couple of years. We plan to file DCF in there. However, we have one question. How, if we live in the Ivory Coast, do we show proof of property in the US? Could this property be rented (like a guest house, apartment) etc. for the years that we live in the Ivory Coast?

Any suggestions/ information would be helpful!

You are kind of referring to 'maintaining domicile'. You may find most of your answers in this link DCF Explained . It will give you a good understanding.

Actually in some consulates it would be zero proof of domicile, which is why I was asking.

You can't prove you are domiciled in a place where you aren't living - or to clarify, you can't prove it is your 'principal residence' if you have it rented out to someone else and you have been living in another country for 2 years.
